I start out playing and really likeing the combat and then when there is "no" story I tend to get bored with Souls/Bloodborne and just quit.
And I really like NIOH and and The Surge because you get both the combat and the story.
I would like to have a story of the main character kinda side with Maria first (Preferred an englishman). In the end, he kinda betrayed (or disagreed with Maria method) and defeats her... although not killing her.
From that point, Maria hates the englishmen (therefore william) and thats why she arrived in Nioh 1
[*[spoiler]Meanwhile, back in Japan, Ieyasu and Co. win the war and take over the country now that Kelley isn't running around creating demons, kicking demon nests, and generally just trying to get everyone to fight each other.
Also, for those that haven't listened to or read anything about the interview regarding Nioh 2, this article sums it up pretty well:
I do not mind at all that William will no more be the protag' of the sequel, and i like to cosmetically customize characters in video games anyway.
The whole reson that I bought NIOH was because there was "story" in it when I played the demo.
I really dont care about min-max or boss hunting or just passing a level as fast as possible.
I love being able to create my own character in story rich RPGs with coice like Dragon Age Origin and Divinity: Original Sin.
But in a Soul`s style game I really do prefer to have a set protagonist with a story and just the choice to edit armour and hair over a cusom character.
So I doubt that I will buy NIOH 2 unless it really surprises me.
So i won't mind if TN decides to change this a bit, or if they propose this time a continuous playable surface, but for me, the trio combat/gear/stats must still remains the core of the game.
(also funny how team ninja and fromsoft traded the custom character and pre-made one)
It only tells me that... Nioh is harder than DS!!! Why it tells me? Because humanity gets stronger and stick together really only when get ass kicked! Like after eaerthquakes, tornados, floods etc... In those cases people help each other International and very generous! And in Nioh you get ass kicked quite hard and often! Beginning with first real Boss! ;)
