What bosses do you hate the most?
Some bosses will make you angry enough to tear a phone in half, others might by a slight road bump on your way to the end of the mission, here are my opinions.

1) Hino-enma (because not knowing that you need to stock up on antiparalytic needles before you start the level can be the most teeth grinding thing you do your first playthrough)

2) Date Shigezane (he isnt the end of the world the firs time you fave him, but when you fight him along side Katakura Shigenaga and suddenly his living weapon centipede has the power to not only track you to the ends of the earth, but it can also slam down over 5k damage)

3) Sananda Yukimura/Date Masamune (They both heard players use to have infinite living weapons, so they thought they'd join the fun! Even if you can land a head shot to break them out of it, it gets annoying having to run around to find the chance to fire off a shot)

4) Okatsu (she's here for being able to side step without a care in the world, and being able to fly. I wanna fly like a ninja D:)

5) Nine Tails (The only real issue I ever had with her is the insta death bite attack at the start if you're buffing inside the boss room and her tail wave. That ability either has some hidden trick to it or its intended to deal over 8k damage. The only way to not die to this is to be in her face the entire fight, as the ability is aimed in about direction behind you)

6) Nue (He should have been the final boss, not that half baked Kelley imposter. He's only really hard to beat if you dont have a good weapon or dont want to spend five minutes or more slowly poking at his face)

7) Shima Sakon (Besides robbing us of his super badass samurai straw hat he does alot of damage and loves to block for days at the end of the fight, but his true power is when he also chains living weapon uses together in a side mission)

8) Umibozu (Did you remember to bring lots of fire damage? Oh it's your first playthrough? Have fun with that. This boss can punish new players as hard as Hino-enma the difference here is you can light the fires around the level to give yourself a fire buff to actually be able to hurt him. He may not be that bad on Way of the Samurai after you attempted him a few times but on Way of the Strong and up he becomes insanely cheap. From having shorter cast times on his instant death laser that tracks you up until the last second, to his slam that tracks you just as well as Date's Centipede he never stops finding ways to piss me off in all modes. Currently I'm struggling to beat him in Way of the Wise because it looks like he has over 500k hp and is the source of the spark for me writing this list and asking others for their thoughts)

9) Every mob fight mission (every mission that drops a dozen or more yokai in and spot and leaves you to handle it your way, most arent too awful but some are just out right dumb. From forcing you to fight multiple Tengu Ravens (Pengu Demons as I call them) early in the game to other annoying yokai combos, most of these missions seem lazy in design but are optionial. The only one that doesnt feel like a random storm of yokai was the Grand Tournament. It was honestly well laid out and it never felt too cramped)

10) Ninja Doges and Yappy Spirit Foxes (They're more dangerious than half the zones worth of yokai put together, purely due to the fact they can howl and aggro said zones worth of yokai to your location. They're also super fast, have long ranged attacks, with the fox shooting fire, can spin into like a wheel monk and delete your Ki just as fast if you arent careful, and dont forget they have the power to quickly recover after missing an attack making any attempt to punish them after they miss rather pointless)

My list of most annoying bosses in no specific order, I really needed to vent some pent up rage after dealing with Umi BOZO the clown's titanic hp bar that puts Hosteater Midir to shame.

FYI Sanada is hilariously easy to head shoot, he will 100% of the time do a drop attack when entering fire and he will do the same on wind or float a bit then do it, get 100% elemental reduction when guarding and just press block, then when he drops he is literally next to you begging for a head shot.

Okatsu is just parry bait.

Hino-enma falls to the ground to a single GS attack, or what pretty much everyone forgets drain her ki, 3 kicks and she is out in NG, way better than doing chip damage.

Nue get his ki drained if you hit his chest when it glows, which happens pretty much every time he uses lightning, if he is charging the 4 lightning run to him and hit his ches, if he is preparing to roll rush him and hit his chest, if he is preparing the sideway ray attack, go to his side and his his chest, or just shurikens and do it for a distance.

I never found Umi that hard, even on my first run, just light the fires and use them as buffs, they only spawn at the beggining, at half and at 25% health, the first ones instantly die, the second one will be one shooted if you have the fire buff, just stay close to him, his arms have horrible tracking.

Others do have annoying attacks.
Onmoraki. I hate flying bosses

1 - If you're blocking her attacks, you're doing it wrong.. Anti-paralysis will help, but you should priotize not getting hit at all, over doing damage.

2 - Date is a newb killer. And will punish you if you can't learn a new way to handle a boss... I agree that Date is a bit of a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, because he's so strict, But i'm happy with him as a boss, because it tests the player.

3 - Infinite living weapon? No.. They still detoriate their stamina. which is a little bit of a slog, but again, just a new tactic to use. They can also been cheeze'd unlike many bosses.. It's sometimes BS. but nothing i'd complain about since they have so many countermeasures.

4 - While I personally don't enjoy her at all. She's not a bad boss. One of the few bosses which are more mobile than you and she makes a very interesting boss fight because of just *how* mobile her attacks are.

5 - I hate Nine-tails for the design and camera work.. Sweeping around her side (or god forbid, her backside) makes it very hard to see what's going on. and she's not static at all.. Otherwise, if you smartly hit her back for more damage, and duck out before she decides to hit it.. That's fine.

6 - Nue is pleb easy. I'm sorry. And Also shares a lot of animations with White Tiger. If Nue was the final boss. I think I would have been very upset.

7 - I've seen a number of people complain about him in video format.. and every time, They have issue with proper spacing. They over-attack, get caught up in his attacks and get launched up in the air.

I would say he's pretty forgettable once you learn to back off.

8 -Umi-bozu is pleb easy. I'm sorry. You have 3 fires which keep out the adds, and do massive damage, if you're confident enough in his second phase. His "Slam Attacks" are telegraphed as ♥♥♥♥.. his two-arm slam? Get in close to his face. His one arm slam? Dodge to the side. attack his face.

He's weak against fire.. And the ring is set up so that you should see that he is.

you should never be hit by his death-lazer. Literally run. just run. Sprint. You'll dodge it 100% (less you run into water.. but that's another issue)

I've also seen people complain about him.. and it's because they're *only* attacking the glowing points.. Wasting time and sitting around as he's otherwise attacking or backing off. Very easy boss in first phase.. second phase is decent.

9 - Grand Tournmant is best mission. I hate you....

not but really...

I don't mind these missions. Personally I find it much more acceptable than some of the dual-boss encounters. The mix of ducking around multiple yokai is great, Though the Curropt-monk yokai doubles are a little BS. if they decide to pump rush you, i'd agree.

This also isn't a boss?

10 - This also isn't a boss.. But I do find the large Spirit foxes to be annoying, because you can't stun them at all.. It's kinda ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and not enjoyable at all.

Though dogs are easy. they're super squishy. Just get in their face after an attack and they're done in 1 combo.

For my own list.. I'd really only have two bosses.

Giant Centepede and Ogress. Both are so forgettably boring.

Giant Centepede has issues with design as well.. It's super easy to defeat, theres literally nothing it teachers you and the gimic that it does have (seperating body parts) Is so under-whelming that it made me back off the first time.. expecting each part of his body to stun me, or block me.. or attack me.. or something!

but nope.. They just scatter.. and he resumes everything as normal.. Than you kill him and yawn about it.

Ogress.. Oh my god, what the ♥♥♥♥ did they do.

Everyone's seen Hannya masks.. They're almost iconic for japan.. and while the lore is sutbly there.. the name "Ogress" is just.. Ugly in translation.

Not to mention she's a terrible boss.. Too slow, Literally jumps into the air way too much. Giant nails do not connect with what's infront of her.. Her backside is broken as ♥♥♥♥, you can walk into her model from multiple angels and be hidden inside of her.

She has 4 attack that are just.. "why?"

A fire sprewing attack which has such a long build up and cool-down that it's almost a punishment for *NOT* killing her if she does it.

Her flurry of attacks is deadly.. *IF* you dodge. But if you lock onto her and stay still.. she'll just wildly swing and not connect with you.

The jumping slam.. Because when I think of a sad, mystical spirit-possessed woman.. I think of having the energy to jump three-times your height.

The 'dig' - Ghezzus. another move which is telegraphed from a mile away.. and locks her down into a multiple second animation.

She had something interesting with possibly spamming her flowers, which will create large yokai realms.. But she only triggers this at 30%-ish HP? that's *FAR* too late for a boss which has sooooo many long animations. (It's also super duper abusable. if you've the trait "Bonus for Purification: Negate damage") Than you can be hit by even her worse, when she's almost about to die.. and just faceroll her.

Edit: -- also that elephant-bird demon thing in the DLC.. I completely forgot about him.. Boring and very, very forgettable.

I dislike Sarutobi the most b/c he moves about too fast to cast spells on him but he can cast/throw things spells/things at you when you want a break to do something.
When you fight Jin every other boss feels easy.
Two bosses I especially hated were Maria and Nine-Tails: Maria for being too hard (she killed me 53 times and was the first boss to kill me over 20 times), Nine-Tails for being too easy (I died like 3 times, and 2 of those were insta-kills at the very beginning).
Every human boss who spams living weapon. It would be interesting if they gave them some kind of amrita gauge mechanic, but nope they can just spam it once their stamina gets to 100% again.
I'm old style player that want to finish bosses with normal weapon, mostly.
1. Return of grourd side mission (vs oda & dark samurai) - dont ever want to play that again
2. Sanada - let me just hit you clean one time pls
3. vs 2 dates side mission - their stamina dont deplete and with that huge & fast odachi + centipide 1 shot kill boils my temper.
4. Maria - moves around too much and i make mistake at some point which gets me killed.
5. Mitsunari - Those insta grabs....
6. Okatsu - moves around too much easy 1 vs 1 just annoying.

i still have summer siege left hopefuly i dont encounter more annoying bosses.

Hino Enma made me rage-punch my old monitor, tbh. But she's easy as can be now.
Nine Tails is hell. As if the size wasn't bad enough the area makes it way too hard to see range of its attacks and combined with the weird hitbox I never know how far I should be away from it to be save from attacks and still be close enough to run to it after one.

Without Hanzo I probably would have needed much longer and the second mission with Nine Tails is obviously more annoying because you don't have support and one more enemy to fight at the same time. I didn't even bother. After the mission loaded I tried once and decided that it's not worth it. Might go back after or during NG++ to finish at least all the missions in Way of the Samurai

If you beat Nine Tails, then you already fought the battle without Hanzo.

Because you fight Nine Tails with Yukimura.
All the bosses in this game suck. They have 2 choices: totally free or cheap as hell. No midpoint at all. And this depends on the grinding you do. I don like grinding at all unless is really fun (not fun in nioh) so i just played all missions and keep going. So yeah when i got to the centipede date, surprise, like 50 lvls below the reccomended. Not that it matters because that boss one shots you if you dont go tank. But on the other side, the human bosses are all really easy, so no epicness at all. If you make a list of the 100 coolest bosses of all games nioh wouldnt make it to the honorable mention at all.

This just *Screams* incompetance that's blamed on the game.
Haven't played the dlc bosses so I can't comment on them. Honestly all the giant basedan bosses really annoyed me. Not because they are hard but the combat honestly didn't work for them. Also the boss fight after Kelly can burn in a fire.
