Need help on Completing "Kanbei and the Overlord" Side Mission.
TLDR - Got me♥♥♥♥♥♥handed to me again and again and again by a group of 6(1 Yokai,1 Big Axe Dude,1 Archer,2 Fire Heads and 1 Dual Sword Revenant). Need Advice on how to deal with that.

Long Version

This is my First "Souls Type"(heard many people call this by that name but don't know if it's true as I've never played Souls) and I can't......I just can't get past this mission. This is the most brutal(sometime it feels cheap) mission I have yet faced in this game.

First Try
I get to the end arena and it spawned 2 skeletons, one with spear and the other with sword. No problem, these are the slow types.

After killing them it spawned 2 fire heads.Again,no problem as it's just 2 kunais each and done.

Then it immediately spawned 1 Yokai,1 Big dude with Axe and an Archer on the upper platform. Well, after getting the Archer first had little problem dealing with those 2 as they are pretty slow unless they attack one after the other.

They spawned 1 Dual Sword Revenant with Rifle and 2 fire heads. Didn't knew about that and got shot to death as it almost took off 70% of my health with 1 shot.

That's on me.

Second Try
Rushed to the locked door which is the boss door and triggered the Dual Sword Revenant as I thought it would be easier to fight him with 2 slow skeletons. I was right. I killed him and got the boss key but got cocky when unlocking the door and was poked to death by the Spear Skeleton.

That again was my fault.

Third Try - n' th try

Same as my second try but this time I didn't die before unlocking. Rushed to the boss door as I aready had the key and Revenants doesn't respawn.Unlocked the Boss door annnnnnnndddd Welp...the Boss didn't spawn. I thought maybe it's because of those 2 skeletons already spawning first.

Killed them and still the boss didn't spawn, instead it spawned the next set of adds which was 2 fire heads. Well,4 kunais and they were done.

Now this is where it feels like it got really cheap. On the next set it spawned the regular adds with 1 Yokai ,1 Big Axe Dude and an Archer on the upper platform But it also spawned another Dual Sword Revenant with 2 Fire Heads. So,I was now Fighting 6 enemies at the same time. It just went on and on and on. Triggered Living Weapon but that doesn't works on Revenants. Got killed again and again and again no matter what I try.

I'm level 26 and using the Shinobi Apparel Set(soul matched to level 17-19) and Archer Garb with a Tonfa-Kusa combo.

My stats are - Heart 11 , Skill and Dex - 12 ,Spirit 11. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

I am very aware of the room you speak of. There are multiple encounters like this throughout the game. Some spawn enemies at set times making it very easy to be over run, others only spawn enemies to replace the ones you kill, and a few will spawn enemies endlessly until 1 specific monster is killed.

Knowing which is which will help determine if Kasurigama High Stance/ Spear Mid Stance cheese will help or get you killed. If enemies are constantly spawning when you aren't attacking, adopt an aggresive play style and kill as quickly as you safely can.

The elemental heads are always my first target, the elemental damage boost helps a bunch, and they can stun lock you if they get too close. Then i typically go for the ranged enemies first. The only exeption to this is if doing that would summon more enemies and make the encounter harder. Unfortunately, this is often only learned by trying in the first place. The rest of the encounter is then about waiting for openings.

If an encounter is giving you trouble, there's an entire system of buffs & debuffs that can be easily overlooked. If you're stuck and don't want to rely on summoning help at a shrine, try grinding a level or two in Dexterity or Magic.

These are the ones i swear by:

-(Onmyo) Devidorate Talismans- reduce enemy attack damage and can help you survive longer to learn an enemy's attack pattern
-(Onmyo) Weakness Talismans- reduce enemy defense
-(Onmyo) Resistance Talismans- makes you nearly immune to poison and paralysis for a short time.
-(Onmyo, unlock at dojo after story mode progress) Sloth talismans- reduce enemy movement/attack speed

-(Ninja) Power Pill- Increase attack
-(Ninja unlock at dojo after story mode progress) Improvised Projectile- can use ranged weapons without ammo.
-(Ninja, unlock at dojo after story mode progress) Levitation- ignore terrain effects
-(Ninja, unlock at dojo after story mode progress) Quick change- revives you after death
-(Ninja, unlock at dojo after story mode progress) Touch-me-not- drop a "grenade" that damages enemies when you die. This has killed several bosses for me.
-(Ninja, unlock at dojo after story mode progress) Makibishi- reduce enemy movement speed

Thank you for the advice.

I feel like I need to go back and progress the story to get more levels and gears before attempting this mission. I was overlevelled for this mission,so I thought it won't be that much of a problem. I just beat Hino-Enma and I really enjoyed that fight......like really enjoyed it.

Dojo currently have no new missions which I think unlock by progressing further in the story?

Anyway,is there a way to cancel a mission and go back to the map?

Yes, read the item descriptions. there are a few items that will send you back to "the starting point." Some come at the cost of all your amrita, others don't. You can also offer a cup to the shrine to summon help. You get cups from defeating revinants (the red bloody graves)

Ah yes. I feel like a derp. I have those items...a handful of them but I always thought "Starting Point" means at the begining of the current area that I'm in. Sorry.
Thank You ^_^
