'Tankiest' heavy armor in the game?
Let's say I want to be the beefiest guy, wearing the heaviest armor with a ton of defence and toughness and I don't care about weight because I have 99 str and stmn and I don't mind spending a fortune to roll weight reduction. Atm I have the he who never retreats set, anything better?

I googled this before but I think those suggestions are for the pre-dlc era.

tatenashi - The God of War looks Down.

you'll need about 70+ stamina to wear it and keep under 70%

even 200 body won't help you under 70% if you wear entire set without reduce weight text.

Well, any body past 99 is basically a waste, as far as weight goes.

Isn't stamina used for carry weight, not body?

Typing miss, as far as I know 70-80 is enough even for odachi+heavy armor build, reduce weigh text will required for 2 piece to gain 70%

I think I'm currently running 60 stamina, 99 strength, 4 tatenashi pieces, 2 with weight reduction and 1 piece of swallow tail and a set requirement - 1 charm. Tanky as hell, 69% weight load.

I reccomend 4 pieces of "Tatenashi" armor set + 5 pieces of "Grace of Oyamatsumi" (by 5 pieces I mean 4 weapons + 1 heavy armor piece - I've defiled "Karakawa" Chest Armor to that Grace).
Of course Yasakani Magatama required to get wanted set bonuses.

The Tatenashi and Grace of Oyamatsumi have massive, second "damage reduction" bonus.
With those sets I have 68.8% damage reduction which in my opinion is the most important defensive stat.
Additionaly I have 19.6% damage reduction from Yokai from my 2 accessories pieces, 66.1% elemental damage reduction and 82.8% firearms reduction, 5679 defense and 364 thoughness.
Learn Steel and Protection talismans onmyo magic too, usefull defensive buff.
Get "Weaken Melee Weapon" bonus at Your weapon too, it's must have on higher difficulty!

With that 2 sets combined You can survive many hits even on Way of the Nioh - I can solo tank any normal enemy (even dlc ones) with odachi, no need to move my @ss - especially non red enemies deal pathetic damage, and the dual boss fights missions are piece of cake (Nobunaga gangbangs and rest of silly duets). Everlasting Duty was a joke too because projectiles there deal me about 15? damage and I could even survive Fox grab attack normally If I fell asleep during the bossfight or something.

With 99 stamina You could have with those sets under 70% load easily if You take lightest heavy armor chest piece and defile it - heavy armor because all heavy armors, no matter of their weight, have the same damage reduction %. Unusal Armor Do is probably the lightest heavy armor. I've taken Karakawa, near heaviest because I wanted to get more than 70% load all the time- I love short dashes with heavy @ss build, started to loving them when I tried some skill pvp battle.

Maybe there are better sets, I don't know, it's my first time playing this game, please don't smite me.

Thanks a lot man, that sounds like a lot of stuff to get, but I'll get there!

no problemo, just some tips -

1. You can forge Tatenashi stuff, smithy text drops from Nobunaga only at Return to the Gourd mission (gangbang with afro dude) - I've dropped it at way of the strong.

2. Floor 36 at abyss - there You can defile Graces which name starts like "Grace of..." Ya know grace of susano, takesuczi, my ballz etc. Oyamatsumi too.

source of info:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Nioh/comments/751lbb/abyss_has_3_sets_of_grace_patterns_that_rotate/

So my method to get Oyamatsumi item as easier and quick as possible is to defile 1 wanted divine item (only 1 at same time) at floor 32 or 33 (You need beat 3 or 4 bosses before floor 36 to get max defilement), then when You are finally at floor 36 and have cleared all status debuffs here - quit the game and backup Your "Koei Tecmo" save file from "My documents". Go back to game, kill boss, exit abyss - You get Grace of Oyamatsumi - cool, repeat that stuff with next item. You get other unwanted Grace - quit the game, restore save file, beat the boss again, repeat until You get wanted Grace. Simple. Saves Your nerves, time and droplets of my ballz.

Inheretable effects armors - I reccomend reduce firearms damage on every piece.

You can roll pretty big elemental damage reduction on chest armor too btw

Cheat Engine could be 10000000000x faster but didn't checked if it's possible to cheat Graces so far.

Well right now I'm in WoTD so floor 36 abyss is quite a reach, but I'll get there. I also need to wear something until I get there.

Oh, I forgot to mention, the floors are locked to difficulties - floor 21 unlocks after beating Queens Eye on WotN if I remember right.

Man, skip WoTD as soon as possible and move to WotN (final ng+). Leveling up, grinding, doing all missions or upgrading is a waste of time to before Way of the Nioh in my opinion. You don't even need optimized equipment before WotN to progress without longer boss fights.

Just pick up current difficulty random weapons and armors and do shortest and easiest missions to unlock Queens Eye - every mission fills the same amount of "Mission achievement rate" bar. The Hundred Eyes boss have joke stats compared to every other boss at any difficulty.

Anything you can get with Reduce Firearm Damage up to 100% really. General purpose I'd go with Tatenashi. Mixing Tatenashi and Hiraishi is a good way to jump start firearm reduction.
