Do whatever you want, you can change the appearance of any item to any other item without sacrificing stats.

Fairly good, if you're into ninja / shinbo / samurai armors. You can also change your hairstyle, though there only appears to be 4 options for me currently, not sure if more unlock later.

As lester stated, there's a transmutation feature which allows you to change the appearance of an item while keeping the stats, so when you find a new piece of gear with better stats you can change the appearance to your liking.

My fashion soul is Maria.

The only fashion you can't refashion or reskin into is the loincloth version of william. Basically you have to strip all his armor.

You can go through the entire game always looking like you're wearing the Tower Guard armor, which is pretty much the only appropriate attire.

Generally, I'm not a fan of Japanese style helmets so I'm glad the game has a hide helmet option. But there is plenty of possibilities to create great looks by mixing armor.

And with the option to reskin armor, you get the best of both worlds since you don't have to sacrifice stats for style.

Still, Maria fashion.

I think the look fo the armors feel flat. They're simply copy and paste of historic japanese armor sets.

I can see the why that would be disappointing in a game set in medieval Japan.

IMO, this game has better fashion than any of the Souls titles. A surprisingly huge amount of armor set pieces match well with the style of others, and the aesthetic is freaking amazing overall, albeit if you don't like Japanese armor, you won't find much to like in terms of fashion. For anyone who does like it, though...Nioh is pure bliss.

They could've mixed in some yokai/folkore inspired sets in there as well. Not just straight up Samurai armor 99% of the time.

No. That would make the game a joke, looking like some numnuts from some goofy ass anime or something.
Never need that in any game. ever. EVER. Especially not ones I play.
