I don't mind using the controller for true 2d games like sonic mania, for example, but I can still play those fine with just a keyboard.
Not hating on m/kb users, but fact is if you play this without a controller, just like Soulsgames, you're missing out. There is a reason all the WR speedrunners use a controller
First, you can move forward slowly by holding down a key, ctrl by default. Second, it's not at all important at any point in the game.
Lack of analog directional movement is countered by full control of the camera. 8 directions is more than enough when you can just angle your camera slightly to move anywhere you want.
Please give me one concrete reason as to why this game is better on a controller.
Just to remind you:
+A single hand on the wasd keys can access more keys than there are in an entire controller.
+Mouse control is simply better for controlling the camera.
+-Analogue movement makes 0 difference when you have full camera control.
+-Just hold a button to move slowly when you need to.
Meanwhile, controller has
+can be played on couch? Well I'm not moving my pc to the living room.
You're just used to controllers. That's fine. But to say that they are objectively better for 3d action games is silly.
It will be a far better experience for me once I re-learn the game (200 hours playing Nioh on a gamepad, even for someone who didn't use a gamepad before Nioh since 2016, it's hard to do the transition). There is a lot of muscle memory for some combos (Ki Pulse + Ki Flux 1 & 2 for example).
Does some of you struggle too to do the transition ?
It's basically devs fault for not optimizing controls on the PC instead of copy-pasta controller layout, but if they actually built a new layout for m+k with the whole world thingy of binding and shortcuts that m+k can achieve, it would be a much superior experience and less tedious
