"From start" means weapons automatically unlocked as you progress up to WotN. The others have sources for smithing texts listed.
Eh, they don't have to be good, they just have to be craftable. As much of a lootgasm this game is, the quality is not there much of the time.
Do you have to be at a minimum level in order to forge exotic weapon/armor?
The chances to forge higher qualities increases with either level or collected Kagatsu Magatama (I was not able to determine which of the two), quality of the materials used (cannot add more that the required 1-3 of each) and possible addition if divine fragments.
So what level do you need to be in order to forge purple items?
Also, purple % was highest at 38% but forged blue items :/
As for Rarity of forged items, there are a few side-missions that will increase the base chance, but, as mentioned previously, it all really comes down to luck. The only thing I can suggest is to either dissasemble stuff for materials to level up to purple, and/or get the Kodoma hunter blessing. Either or, expect to run into weapons and armor pieces your going to have to craft more than a few times to get a purple version.
