And if you do think one does not need a long weapon for this fight - kill him with a sword or dual swords.
The vast majority of his combos only last 5 hits at most so I was going in after his 5th attack to hit him thinking I knew that he wouldn't have a follow up attack. Apparently with his sideflip move into combo he can do a 6 hit combo. If I had just been patient and waited to see that the combo was over I would have been fine either way so just pure greed.
In general I'm a very greedy player in most games. I like to push the limits of what you can do and get away with and often times the information you get is that you cannot in fact get away with what you were trying.
This usually avoids his 4 hit wombo combo, the two hit combo varients and grab will whiff, his high handstand has enough delay on it to side roll away, and since you're allready backing up/rolling away his sword flail will miss every swing so long as you're not scratching your bum on a wall when he starts up.
Since you're almost always up in his grill, he won't use the crawling sword or sword throw moves.
once you learn shigenzan hes not hard (unless you have him and date at the same time, then hes annoying as hell).
You do not, I kill him with a Katana just fine, you can easilly cheese him with a head shoot after he does either guardian spirit attack and punish with 2 iais and a finishing blow, then parry him before he goes LW, in the abyss I can kill him before he enter LW a second time.
If you want to go cheese free then just bait the dash/grab and punish him, it's a free iai each time, when he goes water phase I just block the attacks (100% elemental reduction) they hardly do ki damage, then punish him when he goes for the GS attack, you can use levitation scrolls to avoid the damage.
That's really, really slow. I would have laid the pad down and let him finish me off before I ever hit the 4m mark. And come back with better levels/gear/build. I don't have the patience to sit back and punish single-opening-windows, dozens of times in a fight. I don't think most people do, either. I consider a fight that drags out that long to be a loss, even if I win. Because all I did was play it super safe and punish single opening windows with 1 attack.
Anyway I played that way to show the safe way to fight him. He takes more damage to his human body and normally i would be more aggressive and risky.
I wish you took a little less damage and fights were designed to last 7-8 minutes. That seems ideal for a faster paced action game IMO. That way it can thoroughly test that you can deal with every single move the enemy has, at least somewhat consistently and it lasts long enough that they can justify not having one shots everywhere (which I am not a fan of).
You personally just seem incredibly impatient and don't seem to actually enjoy the combat to begin with.
Centipede dude is not a fun fight.
Nue, White Tiger, Onryoki, Ogress (most of the yokai bosses) are fun fights. I don't care much for the human fights. The human fights are either too easy, or too hard (IMO), depending on how you approach them.
I thought that at first. I learned his patterns after a few attempts and now I find him pretty easy.
You just have to be on your A game and pay attention to his animations.
You can actually get up in shizeganes face and evade through his attacks, it's just difficult and doesn't actually shave off much time. The important thing for time is to hit his human body so you do real damage which you can do with the relatively boring method I showed. That would have made the fight 2 minutes or so.
Then you will have to take a better look at the truth behind Nioh. The only real way to fight in the face of end game bosses is by cheesing with critical LW build, with basically every damage buff and LW serves as a meatshield if you want a fast fight. The way Nioh is designed is really just... that way unless you have really good, and I mean seriously real good mechanical skills.
It just happens that when any player meets moderate resistance they throw their hands up and say it's too hard and resort to cheesing or getting carried in co-op because I guess people are just looking to "clear" the game instead of actually play it.
