Yes, the fight is simple and straightforward, but a single mistake usually means death, and unless you are a god among men (and no offence, but you apparently are) you will be making mistakes in the timespan it takes to empty his health bar.
He does do a lot of damage when he hits you but so do a lot of bosses. Quick change can certainly give you some breathing room but even without it, you just need patience. I'm out of the abyss so I can go fight him and upload a video with game sounds turned off. Might leave it unlisted and just post the link here though.
Here's my vid I just recorded. The real enemy is the invisible wall near the edge of the map causing you to not be able to back up when you feel like you should have more space.

The video stutters in a few parts and theres no sound effects cause of that audio bug. I also got greedy and got hit near the end once but to be fair I almost never see that sideflip move and didn't know it comboed a hit longer than all the other moves.
