Game won't install (BETA)
Apparently there's something strange going on with this version, and I'm not sure why; as soon as I click on "install" in my library, the usual pop-up just doesn't show up the actual size of the download, and when I click on "next" my Steam client just finishes the download in half a second. Point is, as soon as I click on "Play", it tells me "the executable is missing".

So what could be the issue here? I'll try switching to OS X to see if it is of any help, and I'll also try restarting Steam and changing the output directory for my download. I'll check out with you guys if I have some news.

So, looks like I managed to solve this in a few seconds.

This could be useful to anyone who, for some reason, didn't receive further instructions on how to activate the game, maybe because someone else gave him the code without saying much about it. To solve this problem, you should get into the "Properties" section of the game, from right within your Steam Library, and activate the "beta -" from the "Beta" tab in the popup window. As soon as you do that, the whole game will start downloading.

Have fun, guys!

Hi Billy,

The fix is now live, can you tell me if you still have the issue?

Thanks!

I got an early press key as well, but even after launch I can't get the files to install without opting into the beta. If I switch out of the beta, it goes back to not installing any data. Is there any difference between running it in beta opt-in versus the final launch version?

Is there any news yet on this issue?

Hi AceMatt,
No, at the moment you don't have any other option than opting into the beta. I've brought up that point, to see if the team can make the key codes pointing into the standard version of the game, but I don't have any promise yet.

Okay thanks for the update. Are there any major differences between what's playable under the beta branch versus the game state of the standard install?

You're welcome!
No there isn't any difference between the beta and the standard version, except that the beta keys were offered to the journalists and reviewers who asked for it before the launch :)
