Oddly demanding for the gpu...
The graphics of this game looks nice but it's not that masterpiece eye candy. I play on the highest setting with a 1920*1080 60hz monitor, using v-sync.

My specs are
I5 4670k cpu
16gb ddr3 ram
Geforce 1060 with 3gb vram
Win 10 with newest drivers

I do get a smooth framerate, but the gpu shows almost constant 100% usage and the temperature climbs high.

Are there any graphic settings that are especially more demanding that I should lower?
Are there any planned optimizations, any future patches that will lower the gpu demand?

If your hardware gets overly hot during 100% load your problem isn't the software, it's the hardware. Even at the most excruciating load your hardware should never get close to causing you the slightest concern, if it is you either didn't install enough cooling or built up layers of dust have strangled the air flow.

All that aside the game isn't exactly demanding on its own, if you've forced extra AA or stuff like that in the Nvidia control panel it could possibly burden a GPU with such oddly tiny memory but if the framerate is good I don't really think you have any reason to worry about it regardless. Typically a good idea to use the adaptive Vsync provided in the control panel since you get the best of both worlds instead of just turning Vsync all on or all off.

I have no problems with the hardware and its cooling, I'm cleaning the case regularly and have a good airflow. During peak my gpu stays somewhere around 70 degrees, so it's not that bad. But compared to many other games I play this one is especially demanding, which I find odd. If modern fps games, or rally games are less demanding than this something is not right.

The game itself is fun.

I am running a GT610 and having no particular issues. In fact the devs have done a fair bit of work to reduce the GPU load so that old cards like mine can still handle the game. Your issue seems very odd...

I find the game choppy even with the graphics turned down a lot, but it's playable. I can play a lot of other games that should be more demanding on my HDD, GPU and CPU with little or no hitching or slowdown so I'm not sure why this one does.

I'm experimenting with some settings and lowered the view distance and shadow quality to medium, and some other from very high to high. I still get a good framerate like before but it peaks my gpu to 100% still....

@Macdallan, what gear do you have?
Macdallan Jan 17, 2018 @ 3:25pm
My rig is mostly comprised of older mid-range gear. I have a 2 gig Radeon R7 370 graphics card, 16 gig of RAM running, I think, at 1600 mhz, an older AMD 4.2 gig quad core processor, main HDD is a solid state. For comparison I can run Ghost Recon: Wildlands on low settings with minimal issues (that game eats GPU ram like candy), Witcher 3 on medium settings with no issues, and Fallout 4 on medium settings with minimal issues and most games more than a few years old on max settings with no issues.

Edit: Win 7.

I've lowered all settings to medium now except textures which are high, that lowered the gpu usage to about 65-70% instead of 100%.

But I do hope the developers read this thread and try to optimize this game abit more.

hello there

I have similar issue - 2x GTX 670 in SLI

only 1 is used an 87-99%..
the other is doing 1% so basically no SLI usage

my FPS drop from 35 at start to 25 when colony has growed up

1) can we have the details for SLI usage ? (sli bit for N Inspector etc...)
NOTE: I'm unable to upgrade drivers due to other games installed and finelly tuned

2) can we have a list of FPS affecting effect in order of impact ?
(it can be done by trials but it will be really time consuming)

snap, 99% GPU all of the time, theres something not right here...
new pc, last time i played this on was an i7 3770 with a gtx 970,minimum Gfx settings, game kept crashing whilst the GPU ran at 100% so i stopped playing until now.
Spanking new i7 7820x OC@ 4.3G, 1070ti, no dust...., and GPU is at 100% at the start of the game, not even built anything in game yet. Personally im fed up with dev's releasing stuff not ready for market, and with it running as it is on the rig i now have, it isnt fit for purpose. I cannot believe that any Dev would aim a game at 2 1080ti's in Sli, and the comment above this shows that Sli doesnt work properly anyways.
Devs, I know you read this, steam is where you hope to make lots of money. Please advise when you will be putting effort into this issue, im not going away. You can of course refund me, i know steam will not do this, i have spent 6 hours playing this game trying to make the settings work on the old PC. Im not putting that effort in on this PC, if your game doesnt work with my new rig, it doesnt work for 99% of your customers.
To turn down any GFX settings on a 1070ti would be ridiculous on any game out at this point in the graphics card cycle ( when a 1080ti is the only better card available ) , let alone a game that has no real "live action" happening.
Finally, this game has a lot of promise, and if i had faith that you will resolve the GFX issues, i would be happy to be silent and wait. But, and its a big but, i've owned this game for 3 or so months now, and it was unplayable on an i7 3770 gtx970 combo, and its stressing an OC i7 7820 1070ti combo now.
Please resolve, im not going away.

My 7900xtx starts throwing over 3k fps immediately after start, which maxes out my current build, more fans on the way. The only fix is to turn on V-Sync and set the graphics level to auto. That got me to about 140 fps and a decent experience in game with absolutely 0 thermal concerns.
