I'm having difficulty figuring out how to construct the solar array. I've got the correct building, and have scrolled out to satellite view, but still don't see a solar array option?

Thanks.

You build the Solar Array in a Colony which you need to build first. You will then need to build a Transiever in order to recieve the power.

I made a YouTube video on this recently you can check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3G01FM-JBM&t=25s

Hope this helps.

It's not available in the first map right?

The Transiever you place in your base, the solar array on the Over World map...

How to Set Up & Use Remote Settlements

1.) You first need to build one of those new, silver towers (can't remember their name at the moment). You will not be able to build any settlements without at least one. Keep note of where you place it, because it also functions as a really tall hovercar station. More than once I have had to recycle nearby hovercar stations so I could build the new tower. It costs 136 nanites to build. While "expensive," it also holds the most residents and is pleasing to look at. You will need one for each Remote Settlement you build.

2.) Build your first Exploration Vessel Launchpad. It will cost 110 nanites and works best if you can fill the worker pool for it. Also, make sure your Laboratory scientists have done all the research for technical enhancements for the vessel. The exploration ship doesn't work as well on some missions without things like shields, enhanced thrusters, a sickbay, and weapons. In fact, it wouldn't stand a chance at all against Guardian robots without them. You will have to go exploring anyway to clear fog away from your satellite map. For now, it is not necessary to upgrade it to Level 2 just yet.

3.) Build an Ark Vessel. It will cost you 160 nanites. Be sure to fill up the worker pool for that vessel as well. The Ark Vessel is handy, even before building settlements, because you can use it to explore the satellite map of the immediate area around your colony. It has no weapons, so its primary purpose is exploration and transportation. You can send it on flight paths that can clear up the "fog" on the map, and it can reveal Points Of Interest (POI's) as it goes along. You only really need one Ark Vessel, to be honest.

4.) This is one of the hardest parts of the process. You need 500 nanites to build a Remote Settlement. You can find it in the menu at the bottom of the screen when visiting the Satellite Map (you can press X to open it up). The best way to be able to manufacture so many nanites for this would be to have 3-4 iron mines and/or lots of chemical plants producing kelko sludge, in addition to 8-10 Nanite Processors. You can build more if you want, but if you can produce 4-6 nanites per hour, it would not take long to get 500 nanites, though you might have to wait 2-3 days. Once you have 500 nanites, you can click on the Remote Settlement in the menu, and then drag it over to a part of the map of your choice. You are restricted in where you put it by water, fog, and any nearby Points of Interest. So be careful. After you place the new Remote Settlement, your Ark immediately fills with colonists from your current worker pool and flies over to drop them off. That way, you have people to man the settlement's machinery.

5.) Building extras to the Remote Settlements is a tiny bit easier, but only just. Each extra building you add to your outposts costs anywhere between 360-450 nanites. I'll have to take down some notes on my next gameplay. You can only build 2 extra parts to your Remote Settlements, so choose wisely. Each extra building has its perks:

Solar Array - can beam back electricity to your main colony. You will need a special Receiver for this. It resembles a floating mirror that will "catch" the beam from the remote array and direct it into your power grid. You can find it in the Electricity Menu on the far right side. The Solar Array can provide up to 800 electricity for your colony, which I think is awesome
