1) don't let morale get below 50% - Morale is practically a nuclear bomb in this game! It will shut everything down and tie your hands so you can do nothing but sit there and wait for everyone to finish dying,,,, well your probably allowed to pick your nose or change your position in your chair as you watch your cascade failure do its thing.... you can jamb your fists on the keyboard too if you like, but nothing you do matters after a certain tipping point.
(Edit: possibly imploding housing structures might cut off a cascade failure, but i never tried it yet)
2) Use your labor priority options, they are EXTREMELY useful. For example, if you need more food, you may simply need to increase the labor priority in the farms you already have, rather than building more farms. (Although, in the case of farms, i would usually rather diversify food production with more farms before using labor options)
