They say they will eventually add more options for this, but then reiterate that they are a small dev team. So we may be waiting for a long while before seeing these features. I've yet to understand why it has becomes so difficult to add sliders for things like this or volume control or resolution size or brightness, but it apparently takes a lot of work for them to add. Maybe they thought nobody would want to make customizations like this and decided to build on top of a very inflexible system. In any case, Sana hinted that a Roadmap might be posted soon - we're hoping that might give some insight as to what we can expect next at least.
I've yet to use it myself, but I understand the Unity Exporter apparently has some limitations still as well - like, maybe we can't adjust the shaders despite the screenshots? I'm not sure - I decided I would just wait until we were assured control to re-write internal mechanics so to add minigames and improve on the AI from within Unity.
SGB has potential, but it's a pretty hard sell when compared to other engines. It's one of the few game-engine on Steam that doesn't allow you to re-write how things work internally in your game's framework. Meanwhile, as much of a headache as it is to reverse-engineer RPG Maker MV, at least you can if you really wanted to.
I very much need to be able to customize as many visuals as possible, everything tbh. If they even can't make a simple Hue slider on a fog effect well … I've also picked up you can't really change the UI ? Also a huge bummer.
Smile does look like it has a ton of potential, I think I'll drop by later and keep an eye on it but it has some growing to do before I'd commit my time to this engine.
Thank you very much for the detailed info !
