(Solved) "No valid route to destination"
Edit: Not a bug, the default blacklist have pirate sectors blocked and can be turned off/adjusted as you like.

Im having a lot of problems getting ships to find routes to me ('follow me' from many sectors away, or across the whole map), it usually happens when I am currently in a 'toa' sector that doesnt have a gate. I dont recall this happening in other versions of x3? (eg in terran sectors). This sometimes means that I literally cant get the AI to fly to a sector, for example Brennans Triumph alpha, even giving fly to commands etc dont work?

I think that the AI are having problems travelling through the new TOA systems? I think this might be causing other issues too, for example I have seen many stranded/bugged/stationary ships in the same spot in zyarths dominion/zyarths stand - this is a good system to use as an example because the only way to get out of it is first through a xenon sector and then through grand exchange delta. Ive seen groups of stationary ships in other systems too but the split sector next to zyarths stand would be the best example.

Could this be the cause of many issues people are having, such as the universe trader problem or performance issues?

The only "possible" explanation for this, besides being a bug, is if there is a Hyperspace jump point, instead of a Gate or Accelerator in the path.
Since only the player's ship can travel through those, any ship with a "follow" or "go to" command can not do it...

Check your blacklist settings. It could be that your ships are refusing to fly because the sectors they need to fly through are considered unsafe. You can use "ignore blacklist" as a temporary measure to force your ships to move through any sectors.

Also, if a ship is currently docked, it may have problems calculating a route. Tell it to undock first, then give it a command, and it should work.

I had this issue, it's usually related to blacklist. If you set some races to be blacklisted, then your ships won't do commands related to that race's sectors, even if these commands were manual(go to, dock to, etc.) and even if ship itself is located in this blacklisted sector

most commands should work if you are in or targeting a blacklisted sector, as both the current sector and target sector are ignored.

however, if theres another sector between them thats also blacklist then it wont work.
as ships will never fly through a blacklisted sector

if you prefer, you can disable the whole blacklist in the Global Blacklist Options

Thanks for the replies, it never occurred to me that it might be blackslists because I never even opened the menu for them. I checked and the default blacklist has pirates sector blocked, turned it off and now ships all work.
Well the mess of inactive ships in zyarths stand is a mystery now then.
