New Notoriety System
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2479088502

I've been doing missions for Split (so I can use their ships as my Player ships), Paranid and Teladi while using diplomats to minimise notoriety loss with Argon/Boron but they just can't keep up. At this point Boron won't let me into their core systems anymore so do we have to pick up sides now or is it possible to be friendy with every race somehow? Tips?

It seems to be very much the case that gaining rep with one race or faction affects your rep with others. I've had reputation with the likes of Pirates and OTAS being affected by my Teladi rep changes for example.

I'd extrapolate that becoming friendly with one race will negatively affect your reputation with their enemies, although I'm not sure exactly to what extent. It does seem like it will be impossible to be friendly with everyone, which I actually quite like.

I'd be interested to know, if my rep with the Boron was to become negative, will they start attacking my stations and/or HQ? Is it possible for the HQ to be destroyed?

The Boron have been bombarding my HQ for a while now but it still sits at 100% shields. They haven't shown up at my BoFu Station yet.

What bothers me is that Split/Paranid/Teladi have no stations (as far as I know) that sell Jumpdrive. The only ones I can buy Jumpdrives from are the Goners and they sit in the middle of Argon sectors that are hostile to me.

Wiki page has pretty interesting info about reputation:

this change sucks so much ass. i keep killing xenon ships in black hole sun and my argon noteriety keeps going up and down. my turrets are turned off too....

I think it is better this wat. It makes sense too. Canonically, Boron and Argon had an alliance that was contrary to the one Split and Paranid had, and it was the only reasin the Boron weren't defeated on wars because the Argon decided to help them. It makes sense that if you help 1 side the other gets angry.

Yes there are canonical histories but the swings are massive. I complete one passenger transport mission for the Paranid and my rep with Boron goes from 2 green to 2 red. No ifs, ands, or buts. I also lose massive notoriety with the pirates which does not really make sense. They should be mostly neutral on how I work with the other races as long as I don't bother them.

Like poster 123, I just had my first run in with Xenon in the wider universe in Brennan's Triumph. Not on a mission, just targets of opportunity. I lost rep with everyone but Duke's for killing the scourge of the universe? Everyone hates the Xenon, killing them in a faction sector should not matter one bit.

yeah why the ♥♥♥♥ do we get punished for that?
The rep is kinda funny though the rewards from missions can give you a agent just stack em up and gain notoriety/influence. Max out the influence and you will jump several ranks in the relations. I do agree with the comment on the Jump drives because it just makes it obvious who you'll side with/ it's not even a choice unless you wanna cripple your self big time. Then the HQ being in Boron space complicates things 100% with the P-Empire next door.

killing xenon ships afects to the reputation of the faction that owns the sistem where you kill them, and that affects to all the factions related to it.

example: i've killed some xenon ships on boron space and i won rep with boron and argon but lost rep with the other factions

Right, that is how the mechanic works. However for a race that is universally hated, everyone should be at a least neutral for killing them. Raise faction rating where you helped, but don't punish for the other groups.

Is this accurate or just frustration venting? Accuracy is important for balancing. Also how much rep did you gain for Paranid?

I used 1000 influence to raise Boron Notoriety and it jumped from Boron shooting me on sight to me being able to buy their police license. Bug or intended? I used 1000 on argon and it only went like 40% up on the same rank.
amazing how many people can't adept to a new reputation system.

your hq can produce station construction kits for a reason. just buy up the stations you want to have and go full nomad. you can finally become fully self sufficient in this universe but you have to work with this reputation system and suck up to the one race that has what you need.

the only problem I see with this is that it's difficult to pick a location for a complex, because the location could go hostile on you and your assets in an eye blink.

It was not frustration venting, more confusion venting. However, I am now questioning the accuracy. I was in okay standing with the Boron, like I said two green when I left The Void. I was in an explore mindset so I don't remember doing any missions, but I may have picked up a stray one or two before this and just never noticed the rep changes. It was highlighted to be because I got 3/5 of the Unfounded achievement when I completed the passenger transport mission. I learned after that to watch for the popup with the red and green arrows after a mission.

I am sorry I cannot provide more accurate data.

I started to figure out more about influence vs notoriety last night so I am getting a better handle on the system.

This is my only real gripe with FL so far. I hope they at least tweak so that it isn't so punitive to try to unlock stations and gear. I hate it.
