Boarding Problem
Well, been trying to board me some ships but can't seem to be able to, at first tried a Terran Osaka but my Marines can't get through the hull! The ship did have a Hull Polarizing Device (As all capital ships do) but all my Marines stats were at 100, except for fighting. Kept on trying several times then just gave up, tried several others and still, they couldn't get through the hull. So then tried with Marines that are not only all at 100 stats, but have actual boarding experience and tried several Terran capital ships, they all had the Hull Polarizing Device, and not one was I able to get through the hull.

I thought that device was meant to force you to use high experienced marines, but if even at 100 stats across the board is not enough, then what is the point of all that time and money spent on Marines for?

Really need some answers here, because this is truly a game changer. One of the fun things about this game is that whole process, but if it's taken out.....

Even with maxed marines and boarding pods, trying to board any terran M2/M1 with polarized hull is a bad idea.

Since Cargobay Shielding post-1.2 prevents us from destroying the Polarizer, it's best to just blow up the whole ship and let the game spawn in a new one without either one of these.

all capital ships shouldn't have the Hull Polarizing Device, only some of them should have it.

but Terran Ships have harder hulls so require better marines, the Hull Polarizing Device makes them almost impossible though, especially if you are not using boarding pods

Commonwealth/Pirates have much lower requirements though.
Terran ships have always been much harder to board, this was not changed in FL

Though I'm sure some out there do not have it, most, that I have tried or boarded, do.

As for "require better marines", if my Marines stats are all at 100, they can't get any better. And if the hull polarizing device keeps you from taking over ships, then as I said, "What is the point of all that time and money spent on Marines for?"

Terran ships were always harder, true, but not impossible, so they have changed it in FL. Though I only boarded a small number in Albion, or TC, (Can't remember) I never had any problems, especially when using Marines that have all stats at 100.

Terran ships were always a problem with Hull Polarization device in previous games
Nothing has changed regarding the mechanics/entering calculation.

The only change is that more ships may have boarding defenses on them

Bud, I didn't post this to argue, the simple truth is, that before, never did I have a problem with boarding, even with Marines with low stats, but now, even at MAX stats, I'm unable to board ships, plain and simple. So yes, it has changed in some way, what that is, is why I posted this, in hopes of finding out and/or getting an answer from a dev.

I'm only going by 100+ of boarding attempts in previous X3 games.

Shoot the ship with Ion Disruptors or PBEs until it loses the Hull Polarisation device.

Cycrow *is* a dev btw.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Well, that's interesting to know (He could of mentioned) In anycase, the fact is that something has changed since I'm having this problem which I never had in the past.

Though using the Ion Disruptor is an option, the Hull Polarizing Device should not be able to keep Marines with Max stats from boarding a ship/s, or as I said already what is the point; just taking over smaller ships and be glad at that?

Went from system to system looking for ships, tried, I really have no clue, around a dozen and none was I able to board, they couldn't get through the hull. It just took the whole fun out of it for me, and once, I did get so angry that I destroyed the ship, lol, came back this time around and the ship was there again but with a ship full of Marines and the H.P.D. as well.

Thanks changtau2005, though this is my 3+ time going into Terran space looking for a carrier, it seems I will just have to keep flying in and out of Terran space till I find one without the H.P.D. Just a bit disappointed about the whole thing, and was rather hoping I was doing something wrong or missing something. Anyway, thanks all, for your time and responds.
