You won't ever make a tactic that will be 100% effective for a whole game.
You need to watch the game progress and micro-manage situations, compensate for your team's weaknesses by playing to your strengths. Are you seeing the opposition team have a lot of chances from one area of the pitch? Half chances become clean-cut chances become goals.
Something else that can easily be overlooked: do you look at your setpieces when you make subs? e.g Have you replaced a DM with an CAM but left the attacking player trying to perform the DM's set piece defending role, i.e; is a 3 foot tall winger is trying to mark a tall person during a corner? Once you start to find your best 11, it becomes easier to switch duties with subs.
When I watch streams of people playing, I quite often see people playing in 2d engine with only key replays, I feel you need to have replays on at least extended so you see enough of the game to spot your tactical strengths or weakness as they delop. Slow everything down, take your time and really see what is going on, read the game.
Do as B34rd0 said, put it on extended or even comprehensive highlights so you can take your time to read the game.
For example, I tried to go for a victory in the final 20 mins of the game with a more offensive approach, in a few clicks I realized that the changes I made would cost me the game. The opponent was cutting through my defense, so I switched to a more conservative approach and tried to hold on to a draw. My opponent was also winning all the second balls, so I immediately told my keeper to hold off, burn time and pass it to full backs. These details made all the difference between a draw and a loss.
People sometimes wonder what's wrong with their team but fail to turn key highlights off.. There are important details you should be aware of during the majority of the game. I never use key highlights for instance..
I agree it shouldn't be but I can predict with good accuracy when another team is about to score three in a way surely that shouldn't happen, this has happened with four different clubs ive managed with different tactics and diffrerent leagues, and although not very common its still happening too frequently than it should
Hi, Ive been playing FM before it was called FM, your advice is great but im talking about it happening over a ten season period with diffrent clubs and tactics its not down to an error on my part, i could accept that I could be responsible if it happenned now and again, but its too frequent for chance. Try it yourself wait til your 3 goals up bing on two subs and let me know.
Yeah its a trade off between how long it takes to do a season and how in depth you want to micro manage the team, i turn off the 3d match engine as I prefer performance, and accept that my team won't do as well as it would with me micro managing it, still it seems like a bug because once youve seen it happen a few times I can accurately predict when it will happen again, never had this issue with all previous fm's ive played which indicates it may be a bug.
