White screen on Football Manager 17
I recently had a windows update on my laptop which came its own problems but once I had solved those issues I then had a problem with Football Manager 17. Every time I load up the game I am met with a white screen that doesn't go. I have tried to delete both the cache and the preferences but I can't find the folders. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling FM and Steam and I have tried disabling and re-enabling my graphics card. None of this has solved the problem, Is there anything else I should try?

Hi if you can go to preferences screen in football manager menu, then the second box down on the left has a dropdown called Interface Rendering Mode, change it to Software (from GPU Assisted). This should fix it hopefully, this is what sometimes causes the problem.

Full details on how to switch from GPU to Software rendering (including if you can't get into the game) can be found here - https://community.sigames.com/faq/football-manager-2017/84_how-to/88_universal/how-to-change-from-gpu-rendering-to-software-universal-r210/

In regards to finding the cache and preferences folders - have you followed the instructions listed within our FAQ? Remember you need to turn on hidden files and folders before searching for these.

I can't access the preferences screen as I am met with the white screen as soon as I load up FM from steam.

I have followed the instructions on the first link and that hasn't solved the issue either.

Even when showing hidden folders, there isn't a folder for caches or preferences?

Neither folder appears even when I select it to show hidden items?

I have found another solution Windows 10:

- Click "Desktop."
- Launch a file explorer window (a folder for example or just press the windows key + the letter "E" at the same time)
- In the address bar at the top copy and paste the following then press "Enter": %localappdata%/sports interactive/football manager 2015 (Make sure you press Enter, it may otherwise say 'No items match your search')
- Delete the "Caches" folder
- If you can't find the folder as listed above, it is located here (dependent on which HD you have Steam installed) - C:\Users\[Your Windows Username]\AppData\Local\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2016\Caches)

ignore the 2015 bit its the same for any fm game :)
