It depends. Game developers typically have secondary projects they work with whatever teams are not working on primary projects.
This is why the Quake 2 Remaster got started and finished while SS2EE is still on the back burner.
It actually makes sense and given that I doubt SS1 Remake or SS2EE are really going to make any real money whatsoever, its more of a labor of love than a real business proposition, especially with SS3 dead as it is.
A shame. I bet a AA team with UE5 could easily do SS3. The engine is amazing for game creation.
