Lantern Strength / V1 flash light brightness change
Is there a way to make the V1 lantern stronger and cast light MUCH further away (eg 4x)?

I want a better horror atmosphere (esp with mods that make environments darker) but the lantern is too weak to then be practical.

I don't like the NV look and prefer to avoid using it as it washes out the game making things flat and boring.

This could be done by:
1. The developers changing the lantern (or even adding a lantern strength scale in the options menu).
2. Or a mod / finding where to edit the lantern values.

While modding around with UAssetGUI (Had extracted the pak file with unrealpak bat file) I found in
"SystemShock\Content\Blueprints\Characters\Hacker\PAWN_Hacker_Implant.uasset/uexp"
At the bottom, under
Export 101 (HeadlampLight_GEN_Variable)
There's inner & outer cone angles, there's Intensity (I cranked it to 2, pretty good with my minimal ambient light & bloom mod) and then also you can set CastShadows to "True" for lovely dynamic shadows for the torch.
Don't know about distance though.

+1 in the orignal game you had different brightness settings you and could choose one for your flashlight.

The remake V1 is fully useless needs a major buff so it has a use.

V2 is fine .

Hi Nate
Thanks for the suggestion!

I did want to ask what program you use to read the files? Im using HxD and Asset Reader but am struggling to find the right values to change.

I tried to change what I THINK is the intensity value to 2 but I dont see any change in the brightness in game.

Intensity is the "OFF" value of the flashlight, "ON" value is 1500.
I can't find where the "1500" value is, probably hard coded.

Set it to 3000 and load a game you'll see what I mean.

Just use UAssetGUI if you have already unpacked the pak file(s)
https://github.com/atenfyr/UAssetGUI/releases
No need for hex editing with that.

Yes Agree that the values work like that
This mod seems to have found a way around some of this but I cant figure out where in the files they have found the ON values of the lantern

Would like to make it brighter still so still looking for more info on this!

That mod just adjusts the cone angles and adds the "AttenuationRadius" property to the spotlight. the intensity is still the same.
Cheat engine can set the intensity but I don't have the skill or time to set it up properly.
