Is the Plasma Guns Alt-Fire Bugged?

I can't seem to get the alt-fire for the plasma gun to work. I drop in a core, it plays the animation, but then it just shoots like normal and my core isn't used. Am I doing something wrong? I try holding the button, having full energy and HP, aiming down sights while I hit the button for the alt-fire, but nothing works. Am I just stupid and there's something I'm missing, or are you supposed to just drop the core in and then the next shot is the bouncy ball?

Here's a video of me trying to get the alt-fire to work. It's not supposed to do this, right? It's supposed to enter a fire mode for the supercharge I think.

Definitely odd. It should fire the bouncy ball on the next shot. Definitely seems bugged going by the ability to load multiple cores in a row.

Damn, that's unfortunate. Well, thanks for the sanity check. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't overlooking something and gatekeeping myself from basic weapon functions haha.

This on today's hotfix patch? I don't tend to use the plasma rifle much so I don't have a save with it on hand atm.

Yes, I only got the plasma rifle today. I stopped playing yesterday right when I got to security, then today I booted it up and when I got here I was like "this doesn't seem right"

I didn't use the plasma rifle on my last run, so this is the first time I'm trying to use it in remastered. That's why I wasn't sure if it's functioning as intended and I'm doing something wrong, or if it's actually busted.
