Should I ditch the mini pistol?
I just found the Skorpion but my mini pistol is fully upgraded. Also, is the magnum worth using?

The magnum is useful for the entire game.

Mini pistol does higher damage per shot but has... I think 5% less armor penetration than the skorpion. imo comes down to which you prefer and if you want the extra two inventory slots since the pistol is 2x3 and skorpion is 2x4.

Wouldn't advise that. As I got low on ammo, this pistol saved me multiple times, skorpion is great but at times wastes a lot of ammo.

Yeah, once you get the Skorpion it becomes your new workhorse, plenty of ammo and that high dps is just unreal. You probably want a backup though in case ammo goes scarce for a while.

Scorpion deals 2 less dmg but has 5% more armor pen and MUCH higher dps.

Pistol is much more accurate and can easily do headshots too so more ammo efficient.

If you have low ammo pistol if you have good ammo scorpion as it likely has the highest dps in the game basic ammo againts mutants armor piercing againts everything else.

Magnum is usefull till the end and can replace the pistol.

Honestly, with the upcoming change making the pistol 3 round burst instead of 2 AND being a toggle? I may not bother with the skorpion again. You can already do the 2 round bursts pretty quick.

I'd say of all weapons the scorpion is the most straight forward upgrade from a beginner weapon aside from the second wrench. If you can reliably single fire even though it is an automatic you don't really need the pistol to conserve ammo. It still takes the scorpion about a full clip of teflon ammo to down a level 1 security bot. Depends a bit on your trigger finger and your room to maneuver. The pistol definitly takes too much time to kill the worse enemies you'll encounter. I read the next update will change the upgrade for the pistol a little to make it more useful and flexible (3 shot burst, can switch back to semi) which will probably make it a bit more viable later in the game.

I'd keep an eye out for an ion rifle if I were you. They're versatile and a good backbone for an arsenal if you can manage your energy level.

BTW, the Magnum is awesome but I suspect you'll only find enough ammo in the game to blow through about 2 decks with it so it's best used only on tough enemies. Up to Deck 7 I only found about 100 bullets for it.

Although I agree it remains a great weapon, except for bosses, everything just melts in front of a Skorpion burst. And as you go on you get more and more armor piercing ammo. I just think in the end it surpasses the pistol. But it can vary from playstyle to playstyle. Only thing I would suggest is having something that you can get those headshots easily when not using the skorpion. i prefer something that uses another ammo, like the zapper thingy you get or the magnum.

The assault rifle is good, but it still doesn't have that insane dps and a bit scarcer with ammo.

The Mini Pistol is more value per bullet. The Skorpion is better when you are cornered and have nowhere to run. I used the mini pistol all the way up to Engineering where I believe I told myself 'I have a lot of ammo. Maybe do other things' and then I did.

If you're cautious and like creeping around corners, mini pistol is always good. If you like run and gun, swap to Skorpion. Hopefully you've saved up a lot of ammo for when you decide to use it.

Yes, do it. The Skorpion with the damage and ammo capacity upgrade is a very powerful weapon, and was my "Don't burn all the auto rifle ammo" fallback option for me all game long. Well, apart from the Ion Pulse Rifle, which I used when there was a power node near. As has been said, the Skoprion shreds everything, maybe except for the bosses, which I did with the auto rifle. The Skorpion with the Teflon ammo and damage and ammo capacity upgrades is excellent.

The Skorpion is a straight upgrade to the mini pistol, same way the ion rifle is a straight upgrade to the Sparc.
Once you get the magnum and the Skorpion the mini pistol is kinda worthless.

The downside on the Ion rifle is that the shots always need to be loaded. It's a bit slower than the Sparq Beam when you shoot in succession. But, it's the perfect weapon to load up, then lean left or right, and shred the enemy to pieces. 😉
