Other sci-fi, base exploration games?
I had a blast with this game (and of course, loved the originals).
What other such games (first person, third person, isometric, etc...) are you guys a fan of? Games where you're going through a confined area, having to explore and backtrack and such.

Alien Isolation was a great one. Especially with the epic setting.

Prey was an epic game. I've played through it a few times. The setting is wonderfully done, and I love the features. Plus the bombs that turn all items into resources are great for OCD nuts like myself. lol

StarCrawlers is a fun party based sci-game where you're exploring various bases and facilities. Lot's of freedom in builds and choices.

Colony Ship is a great one in the works from Iron Tower Studios, who made the amazing Age of Decadence.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/340490/Subterrain/
Subterrain's a great horror/survival game set on a colony. Explore the base, repair systems, fight off mutants, defend your base, lots of crafting...

Duskers is a fun Roguelike where you're sending drones into abandoned bases and space ships, gathering resources and slowly piecing together lore.

Definitely a weird one (And apparently kinda janky on newer hardware unless you switch to the compatibility branch on steam) but a good scifi puzzle game with a lot of "What the actual ♥♥♥♥ is going on?" in the story.

Outer wilds + dlc too, No combat but 100% exploration puzzles in a light (but also heavy somehow) sci fi setting.
Easily one of the best games ever made. Go into it blind and don't use a walkthrough, the less you see or know about its content the better it works.

It's one of the games that is not only excellent but advances what we think games as a medium is capable of, a important game.

Oh yeah, forgot about Swapper. I have it, it's on my "to play" list. :p
Outer Wilds is interesting. Though honestly, I'm not a big fan of the time rewind stuff. I get that it's well done, and I can see why people enjoy it. I just find that kind of mechanic annoying.

Swapper's not overly long. Could easily tear through it in an afternoon.

Bit longer if you want 100% achievements.

I've tried to get into Prey a few times now, but I feel like it's a better speedrun game than casual game because of things like going out of bounds with the glue gun and how much you can do with that.

I love Prey. The story is great, but so is the general gameplay. Especially when you have the option of going "alien".
But I love the exploration, the setting as you explore the station (inside and out). And all the ways you have to deal with situations.

Ye voidbastards plays a lot like this game, just with some rogue elements. You can bypass enemies by sneaking around them and locking doors on the ship. Quite cool.

All the depth you could ask for in an immersive sim. I recommend the Anomaly mod that completely reworks the game and makes it better.

Duskers is delightfully atmospheric and immersive. Quickly gets quite repetitive, but its price tag is low enough not to complain anyway.

Signalis is pretty good, though it's closer to Resident Evil in it's gameplay, the atmosphere and story are, at least a little bit system-shocky.

Void Bastards was fun. A little simple. But over all I enjoyed it.

SOMA was also a good game. At least, once. But like the Amnesia games, once you've played through, there's no much replay value.

Yeah, I grabbed that, it's on my list to play. Just getting through Bone Totem first. :p

I'll 2nd Starcrawlers and Colony Ship.

Just realize that they're vastly different genres (one being a blobber and the other being a more traditional party based turn based rpg).

Woah, this thread is awesome.

Can I say... Dead Space also counts in this list?

This has more in common with Portal than System Shock, but is a surprisely good adventure Metroidvania puzzle game.
