Confused about the Magnum lasersight

How does the Magnum lasersight work? It doesnt actually create a dot, it doesnt seem to have an effect on the crosshair, so what does it do? I noticed the upgrade said it adds the laser sight and increases damage. Do i need to keep the lasersight turned on for the increased damage?

But to OP yeah I have no idea, apparently someone said the longer it is on a target the more damage it does? But I was confused by that.... all I know is I always had it on.

I think the laser sight is just cosmetic but the add on increases damage. Not sure if it only increases it if you activate though.

You activate it by pressing T and it will continuously drain your battery levels. You get a small dmg buff when you aim the gun at an enemy and hear it beep and the ammo counter on the gun has the 4 dots surrounding it.

I kinda wish the game would explain this or at least give hints in the bio
