Low-res/"retro" textures are a terrible idea
And nothing anyone says will change that. It looks ridiculous and is appalling visually jarring. An utterly bizarre design choice,

I don't Like the retro Textures either. But you can get used to it after some Time...

I don't mind it, but it wasn't needed. I don't see the point of having pixelated textures along with modern post processing and shading.
I saw the pixelated graphics in the player's home, quit the game, and immediately uninstalled the demo. Why play 1990’s graphics in 2023?
not 90s graphics, these would still make a 90s pc burst into flames

Sure, they could've blown their budget on some ridiculous 8K art assets and made the game 130 GB and practically unplayable on a 3090 or above without some aggressive upscaling solution
Right, because that would be literally the only other option.

Why are most of the people who defend the pixelated graphics so incredibly bad at forming sensible arguments? It's just strawman after strawman with these people.
There is nothing to defend, it looks like it looks and it looks fine.

Because the premise is crap to begin with. Art style is subjective taste for the most part. Once visual cohesiveness in achieved the rest is largely down to a matter of taste. Just because you personally don't like lower res textures with modern lighting doesn't mean its an objective criticism which the people who are complaining about this are unarguably presenting it as. I could just as easily say that it captures the 80's hacker movie aesthetic in a quite fitting manner, but that's subjective, because it is. At least I'm aware of that.
Wow, we found the one person who liked the 2018 "reimagining" that got the whole project put on hiatus and restarted after the complete change to the visual direction went down like a lead balloon with the backers.
"I dont like the pixelated textures with all the modern graphics settings, it clashes with the square tubes I run down the whole game."

Ah, the "no argument at all" argument. Brilliant. You are truly a master of persuasion.

Woot, another strawman! And wrong. The "reimagined" incarnation of the remake wasn't abandoned because of backer pressure, it was abandoned because Night Dive ran out of money to develop it and couldn't secure additional publisher backing. There was an entire Kickstarter update detailing what happened.

Because it's an entirely subjective take on the game's visual design? Your argument is (presumably) "I don't like it and think it looks ugly", my argument is "I like it and think it looks fine".

There's nowhere for it to go aside from back-and-forth "my taste is better than yours", so why bother trying to debate it?

To you. Lots (the vast majority of people) like it.
i think it looks pretty good.
Im very much enjoying the retro-futuristic art style. I could see that if someone had not played the original, or many games during that era, that maybe it would look weird. To me, its a nod back to the original, and quite a beautiful way of doing so, while also very much so doing its own thing.

You dont even own the game on steam and dont seem to have an argument besides, 'I dont like it, therefor bad'. Why are you even posting anything at all? I could get it if you bought it, and were upset that the graphics didnt meet your personal standard set by football manager.

I am not trying to persuade anyone, I am telling you how pointless *your* attempt at persuasion is. They won't change the game for you and no one will suddenly dislike the look because of what you say. So what exactly are you trying to achieve here?

Get a job and buy the game, bozo, then you can at least have a reason to be such a whiny dork. Most people like the game, the art style and everything else you whine about; it's one of the few recently released games that has been well-received.

"y-you don't have to pay for something to openly criticize it". Yes you don't have to, but why waste your time whining about something you don't like?

New texture mix indeed is awkward. Making the game with low res textures only probably would be better idea. Now I would like to have adequate resolution textures at least for 1080p too. Hope that fans will make proper 4K texture set later.

the entire game is pixel textures, however the scale of those pixels, and the visibility I can absolutely fault as being a bit messy/ hit or miss. I would have liked consistent pixel scaling on surfaces/props and generally high contrast approach. 95% of the game does this very well, keeping to a generally about 1 pixel per 1 inch scale and high contrast in the pixel art. but then there's assets once in a while like the bed sheet in your apartment in the intro. the pixel scale is way too dense, the prop has a scale of like 4x4 pixels per inch, and it's so low contrast the pixel art blends together, making it look visually out of place compared to other props. this only happens rarely in the game, but it's a bit jarring every time i run into one.
