Can't disable mining laser
I've deactivated the safety interlock in the reactor with the code from the library. I can confirm it says "SAFETY INTERLOCK DISABLED". With that set to disabled, I've gone back to control to activate the laser, which should disable it according to "Tachyon Laser Maintenance: Chapter 3 Section 5.2.1 "Failure to re-enable safety before resuming regular mining will cause catastrophic damage to laser".
After this didn't work I had to look up a guide to find out what I'm missing because I don't know, but every guide I can find says that this should work. So why the hell isn't it working? Is it bugged?

So when you turned off the safety protocols did you go back to central control?

Because it sounds like you disabled the safety protocols, but, did you 'resume regular mining' from research?

Turn on the shield? Huh, I didn't see that in any guides. If you could give me a rough idea of where I would go to do that it would be much appreciated. I didn't explore the whole reactor level because there was a lot of radiation in this one large area just behind where the safety override controls are, but maybe I could have worked out a path through it.

You were suppose to grab isotope 22, I think thats the name?, from research level (to the left of the elevator if you are coming from reactor way and not medical way)

And then when you are in reactor, coming off the elevator you take a left and just hug the left wall until you find a room that is labeled shielding I believe and you plug that device in there.

If you need further help I can go take screenshots (: I dont mind.

Ohhhh that thing that asked for the isotope right okay, I assumed that had to do with the radiation or something. I didn't find it. Thanks for the help I'll figure out where it is.
Ahhhhh that's why I missed it. I've been just not going into areas with high radiation at all, marking them to come back to later when I assume you get some defence against it. I didn't realise that I would ever actually *need* to go into a radiated room with no protection. Kinda lame tbh I hate that kind of thing.

There is a room in that room that stops the radiation. (:

The only time you have to deal with radiation continuously is in one of the groves
