hope this helps u too.
I think it's badly optimized and i'm hoping this gets a fix.
I hear people complain about system heating up. Some say graphics card gets hot because uncapped frames or something.
Most games acting up in this way can be pacified by locking frames to 60 or to 30 but the option doesn't exist here.
Audio stutter is just a side-effect.
Needs a fix.
maybe something something Vsync.
Support said:
1. Select sound from the system settings and then scroll down to Advanced
2. Chose More Sound Settings
3. You will see a pop-up window with a list of sound devices
4. Right-click on the sound device that you are using and choose Configure.
5. Now select the surround channel as Stereo and click next twice and click on finish.
Now I was already on that setting, so it didnt change anything for me, but changing it to something else makes the stutter worse, so apparently its connected.
Attempted this but I also already had it set to that ::(
Firstly, what are our CPUs? (Mine is FX-8370 AMD and yes, I think the problem could be in either old CPU or AMD ones)
Secondly, folks encountered the same problem in UE4 games, I personally saw this problem in Stray and FF7RE
Its a GIANT hunch, But I think its actually a messed up Sound Channels bug
Basically, the game does not know how to handle some CPUs and is either trying to play all sounds at once - which is impossible or just tough or just gives up entirely
In some cases - the sounds will stutter
In worst - some sounds or even music - turns off
And in the WORSESESEST - the game crashes
Stray devs fixed that with a patch
IN FF7RE back in the day, people were using Console commands to set up different channel number whenever Sound glitched out
The problem is - System Shock's console is turned off by default
And another problem is - the channels command could be different for this game
Sooo, I found a couple of ways to enable console
https://framedsc.com/GeneralGuides/universal_ue4_consoleunlocker.htm
From here - use at your own risk
And also trough Cheat Table
https://fearlessrevolution.com/viewtopic.php?t=24778
After you activate console in any way
Use this command:
au.SetAudioChannelCount 1
It will reset your sounds completely and leave only ONE channel - the game basically will be muted
Dont panic
Enter the command again (just press UP) but instead of "1" type "16" (or less, or more you only need 16 in most cases)
I tried that out, it kinda fixed the problem and also Framerate but - its not an ideal solution
The game have a lot of other problems, sadly, so yeah...
If anyone else ends up trying this, pls report on the results.
Going to try downing the graphical options as some have suggested, as to be honest I was suspicious of the high quality FPS performance Ive been getting. Didnt figure it would be related.
Ill post if I have anything interesting to add. Seems like a valid topic if many share the issue for a game that has such excellent and iconic sound design.
Should note this is not just in audio recordings, which have their own distinct 'added effect' of being crackly. It usually occurs when transitioning between areas and effects all sounds and music, specific example being the closed corridors into open spaces within the flight deck.
P.S Just to make sure: the Nightdive logo at start is supposed to crackle, right?
