What button is "hold to inspect"?
While I appreciate the retro aesthetic of the UI, I think that perhaps someone might have gotten carried away :) The tiny lines and text are a little difficult to read. In particular, there is a box on the right side of the UI bar that says "Hold *** Key To Inspect", but the text is so tiny I can't figure out what key I'm supposed to hold! Rather than continuing to mash blindly, I'm hoping someone can just tell me...

Yeah, I’ve experienced the same problem. It almost looks like it’s referencing a Steam Deck key or something, but like you say, it’s too small to see clearly.

"hold to inspect" is the "show details" keybind from the controls menu. Mine is binded to V and it lets you read descriptions for items. The on-screen UI is bugged and may not show which key you actually press, so again check the "show details" keybind in the settings.

No, actual retro games were designed by people smart enough to provide players with legibly-sized text. If you go look at the original System Shock, even its smallest UI text is about twice as big as the remake's tiny text.

There is a UI resize option to help increase text size, I'm considering playing with it.
