My only complaint are the puzzles which I believe are new to this remake because they are a bit convoluted to solve, but you can just lower the puzzle difficulty if you want to.
That being said, it's probably not worth 40 unless you want to support the future of the franchise.
It is nearly the same game except with modern controls and ui running in a modern engine.
The similarity goes so far that i can honestly tell someone new to go play the remake and he'll have the same experience as playing the improved dos version.
That being said, it means that it shares both the good and the bad of a 1994 game.
EDIT: Though I am complelled to admit I barely started the game, and I played the original many years ago so I am pre-disposed to give it a good review (and buy it the moment I saw it was available). That said, what I have seen so far looks most impressive and I believe it will be an good buy.
The color scheme seemingly too coloryish and bright.
You all "I like it, so you have to like it too" feedbackers :P
It has some problems, but nothing that kills the enjoyment. I'm probably being more lenient on it since I'm comparing it to the original, which is a bit of a PITA to actually play these days. But overall, absolutely yes.
If you think the game is too bright and colorful, the brightness setting is there for you. Setting it to 0.3 makes the game almost unplayably dark until you get the Vision upgrade, so that might be up your alley?
It's not more colorful and bright than the original, the lighting is fantastic in this remake. The original wasn't super dark and gloomy, to be fair. This isn't like Dead Space (and it never was), it hits the original atmosphere pretty well, similar to SS2 as well.
