moronic it is . Music and good sound design brings you Immersion in a game .I cant count how many times a Good Soundtrack dragged me back in a game.
The Systemshock 1 soundtrack is Iconic .
In all seriousness though, I do wish they had made the music more in-line with the original. Nightdive's all about 'paying homage to oldschool games' with the pixelated art style, but with music they did everything but.
Since you're taking about the expectations and playing the original, this is my tip for you. Wait for a sale, I wouldn't say the experience is worth the 40.
There are some cool additions for example an inventory lift you can leave your items on and transfer them from floor to floor if your personal inventory is full. The scrapping system is alright but apart from that it's SS1 without the soundtrack which is a massive bummer. I'd say if they made the gun impacts more punchy and brought the soundtrack back, it would be as good as the original.
And the music... yeah, the music in the intro was a letdown too - it starts up that all too familiar iconic tune and then ends halfway through, never to return. What the heck were they thinking?
