The ♥♥♥♥♥♥ promotional image is one thing, but their response to the justified backlash is especially concerning. They straight up admitted that they'll continue using the AI, and that they want to explore it's other potential applications, whatever that means.

Now I wonder how much of this game is actually AI generated. Hopefully not much.

The response from them to the twitter mob came off as very tongue in cheek to me

No way I'm touching this game after learning they are techbros, gotta wonder just how much work was stolen by the automated program and how much of it is actual dev work.

Shame really, I was looking forward to this game.

For anyone who hasn't seen the latest hilarity bomb the twitter post is here https://twitter.com/SystemShockGame/status/1653445008777674779

Of course the question everyone should be asking is...
What are you on about using ai art in a game that is "supposedly" going to release in 27 days...
Shouldn't the artwork have been done months ago ???

Unless you plan on delaying the game for the 7th time....

Isn't the twitter side handled by the publisher?

Rumor has it that even one of the main characters is AI.

As a kickstarter backer with the beta demo, with what I've seen I gotta admit they might actually need AI art after all!

In all seriousness, I wonder if I can get a refund after like 6 years of my pledge

I read an article on this and I was completely unclear on why I should be outraged. Still not getting it. Is it about taking work away from artists?

Who cares if it is using AI to create art

I asked ChatGPT and here's the response:
  • Lack of human creativity: AI-generated art may lack the human touch and creativity that can make art interesting and engaging for players.
  • Limited artistic expression: AI is only as creative as the data it has been trained on, so it may not be able to create original or diverse art styles beyond what it has learned.
  • Difficulty in adapting to game design: AI-generated art may not always fit well with the game's overall aesthetic or design goals, and may require significant tweaking or adjustments.
  • Uncanny valley: AI-generated art may appear uncanny or artificial, which can be off-putting to players and detract from their immersion in the game.
  • Technical limitations: The processing power required to generate high-quality AI art can be significant, which can impact the game's performance and require additional resources to optimize.
  • Ethical concerns: Some people may view the use of AI in art as a form of exploitation or a threat to human creativity, and there may be ethical concerns around the use of AI-generated art in commercial settings.

Yes, and it's also lazy.
Neither of those seems to outrage me much when we're talking about Twitter posts.

That's assuming they would have made that tweet had AI not existed, which doesn't seem to be the case to me. How can you say any work for an artist was taken in this scenario?

What a complete overreaction by the community.

They used one AI created image, with intent and complete transparency, to illustrate a specific message i.e. the AI antagonist of the game illustrated by an AI.

It's a single image for a fluff marketing tweet, it does not take work away from artists.

People get offended by the stupidest **** nowadays.
