NO. Absolutely not. You can use every other place as storage. But the elevator will swallow everything you drop.

Also if you reduce floor security to zero enemies will stop spawning.

ahh ok thanks for the tips, been a while sisnce i played these classics.

Btw, as i have you. Do you know if ammo loot is mainly based on what weaps you are carrying? I.e. If i drop my pistol for the magnum, will i start getting more magnum ammo loot instead of normal pistol ammo?

Thanks again

as far as i can tell, ammo drops are not based on what you are carrying. I could be wrong, but i havent noticed otherwise.

I hate gotten ammo for weapons I didn't have yet. However, I am not sure if I obtained that ammo when the weapon was able to be picked up, and I just missed it.

no i think i understand now that it is based on the enemy you kill. certain enemies will drop certain ammo more often

I've taken a peek inside the .pak file, and it does appear that enemies have loot tables with percentage chances. Not impossible that there's another loot system running on top of that, but I don't think so - seemed to line up with what I had drop in the game.

The freight elevator that runs between maintenance, storage and the flight deck seems to be fine to drop things in.
I have left a few weapons and some ammo in there while going back to maintenance from storage in order to stash the weapons in one of the crates in the elevator room and it was fine, at least for that one ride.
I'd recommend doing a save before trying and also avoid leaving your items in the elevator just to be safe.
The big cargo elevator in Maintenance Central has a bunch of big crates right outside of it; most people I've talked to leave their extra guns and ammo in those crates for safekeeping. That level also has an easily accessible energy charge station to the east, an elevator leading to Reactor where a surgery machine is for free healing, easy access to Flight Deck, Storage, and Executive because all the elevators are right next to each other, and the whole relay storyline to complete. I'd make that floor my base of operations because of how convenient it is until you get up to Engineering.
