Reactor radiation

There's a zone in the Reactor level that's full of high radiation levels.
I've enabled the radiation shield but that didn't seem to do much. I also found a button pad for a 3-piece code but haven't found the code anywhere, and a seemingly inaccessible platform on the far left.

Is there anything I've missed or should I return later?
It also seems like I can bruteforce my way through the radiation but from what I've seen in this game there must be a better way.

First of all, check your suit type. Is it level 1 or 2? If it is level 1, it won't help in the slightest as that is biocontamination only. You'll want the level 2 suit (its on maintenance behind the door that need a low security level).

Second, I don't recall any inaccessible platforms in the reactor. There are some elevated ones, but they're easily accessible.

As the code input, are you referring to the one in the core itself? If so that is for later and it is actually 6 digits. I believe the laser safety override is around there too, but it isn't actually in the core. That is a 3 digit one.

You are still doing the laser/first mission avoid ANY areas which have 100+radiation+security 2 bots/late game area

That area/reactor core is for mission 4.Doing them early/brute force is just waste of your resources.

By the time you meant to do them you will have late game weapons and enviromental suit V2 which will significantly reduce radiation and high lvl combat shields the usual dmg taken.



You turned on radiation shield good.

You need to do libary cyberspace in research and after that a 3 digit code will flash nearby for the laser code in the "real life".

You need to enter that code in reactor's laser safety override .And do not forget to turn the switch.

And then you need to fire the laser in the control room in research.
You can check "systems"usually that tells where you need to do your mission.

late-ish to respond but in many areas with radiation including parts of the Reactor level you can destroy the radioactive barrels to clean the area out, as far as I know the immediate area around the reactor itself is always radioactive however
if you're going to be backtracking around that area it might save you hassle later on to destroy the barrels you come across

Suit 1 and Detox, take a peak in there then reload yer save if you don't find anything usefull in that area, can always come back with Suit 2. Wait till you get to Grove Beta XD Muuahahahahahaha!

There is a metroidvania style of design in the game. Where certain areas will not be easily accessible or completely locked until you either have the right equipment or completed certain objectives.
