The other way to unlock Beta Grove is there's a switch in Diego's office (the one that doesn't require a keypad and where the Hacker removed SHODAN's ethical restraints) next to a camera conveniently showing Beta Grove's tram. If you do the hacking section and then find this button, it'll just tell you it's already been activated. Not sure what happens if you unlock Beta Grove and then do the hacking.
If all you want is Diego's closet to unlock, you don't have to actually finish. Survive until you destroy the first door lock node, then just let yourself die. The door will still remain unlocked.
Similarly, if you get killed by the mines while exiting, as long as you destroyed the node, the door to Beta Grove stays unlocked.
So I play through the level long enough to unlock the closet, then give up on the rest. There's an alternative way to unlock Beta Grove, so you don't need the Executive Cyberspace node to do it.
I finally discovered this by myself after trying this area like 8 times. It's insane how hard this cyberspace was compared to the others. And if you don't hold backwards, there's literally not enough time to bust these mines before you reach them.
The only other 'legit' way I can think of, is to orient your screen so the tunnel is horizontally to you, meaning you can strafe left and right inside the tunnel. You can strafe left/right pretty quickly and dodge the mines on either side. However, if you enter the tunnel with your view oriented vertically, you absolutely cannot dodge up and down fast enough. So this may be an oversight by the devs. Not sure. Kinda bad we have to resort to 'cheating' by holding backwards and bouncing the walls to go slow enough to kill the mines. I think the strafing left and right method is what's intended.
I just searched if people were having trouble with this section and sure enough it's brutal for everyone it seems.
Completing Executive Cyberspace isn't necessary to progress? There's another solution.
access to Beta Grove, which can also be unlocked by a physical switch in meatspace
