The rest would be nice if they could do something about though. That and fixing cloud saves are why I've been waiting on playing on my steamdeck at all.
But, yeah some love would be nice. Kinda dissapointed it wasn't released with full controller support.
FWIW you can lean, it's just kind of odd.
First, you need to aim down sights (left trigger). Then, you have to click in the left analog stick, after which you can use the left analog stick to lean side to side.
It's much more awkward to use than just having lean buttons like kbm controls do. And sometimes it just doesn't work and I have to "un-aim down sights" and re-aim down sights again to get it working properly. But it does work, and I tend to use it on enemies with repetitive firing patterns like the floating robots.
It can also be a pain to properly line yourself up to peak around a wall. I kind of aim down sights at the corner of a wall, without fully moving around it, but there's a learning curve for specifically how close you want to get to the edge so you'll still be protected when the enemy fires back.
The Steam Deck actually makes managing the inventory much easier. You can use the touchpads for mouse movement on logs/menus/inventory/recycling. I have the touchpad clicks set as left-click/right-click, and it works well.
You can also bind the extra buttons on the back to keyboard shortcuts. I have my Deck's back buttons programmed to toggle on the flashlight/shield/bioshield/jump boots.
Still can sympathize with the OP's complaints, but on a Steam Deck this plays great.
It's better than compared to before the patch.
Try to rebind them to something else and they just default back to RB/LB.
No holster bind for gamepad, no bindable flashlight or shield for gamepad. I guess the idea is that you should cycle through the hardware options and then engage them as there is a cycle hardware bindable key, but it does nothing and the use hardware button is by default the same button as use explosive.
Why is the controller support so halfhearted? Will the console versions launch in this state too?
Don't really get the approach of implementing controller support at all if you're not going to include core feature like a toggle for sprinting...the bumpers not working at all makes this one of the worst games that actually supports controllers in the first place...
And the best thing is this has been announced to get a console port from day 1 basically...You guys do know that games are played with a controller on that system, right?
Well just add a female protagonist that doesn't change anything in the game instead I guess...development time well spent!
I really was looking forward to this and checked in regularly if the devs acknoledge that some of us just want to chill on the couch playing a game not being bound to M+K...guess we have to wait for modders to actually implement full controller support instead.
