How do you add or remove map markers?
In the map screen there is an option to add or remove map markers but I can't figure out how to use it. If I click Add Marker it highlights yellow, so I assume that's the first step. But then clicking on the map doesn't do anything. I've tried right click and left click. I've also tried pressing enter and just typing... nothing.

Click on add marker, click on the map. You cannot label them, it's just an icon.

That should do something, seems like you have encountered a bug

Yeah it is not adding them for some reason. :-(

Sometimes I have to click 3 or 4 times but it eventually works

I cannot get this to work for the life of me either.

Use your mouse, seems to be more effective than controller

Okay so I figured out what was wrong. In the map there is a filter for "Messages". I had it greyed out. Turns out "Messages" actually means your own map markers.

So they were working, but I just couldn't see them, lol.

Also, while we are on the topic of the map, I've noticed that the orange security icons (toggled by the security filter) do not ever show on the level I am currently on. I can see them on all other levels except the current one, regardless of how I have the filter set.

I thought it was supposed to be possible to enter comments on the markers or on the map in general - anyone have a tip for how to do that? This page says it should be possible - https://shodan.fandom.com/wiki/Navigation_and_Mapping_Unit#entering-comments

That information is for the original System Shock, not the remake.

That is fair - so the ability to put labels on the map is something that was removed in the remake then, as far as you know? That's annoying if so, but good to know I'm not just missing something.
