Game's Beginning Makes No Sense
The account that you hack into is Diego's personal account.

You then just go into the ethical restraints and remove them; he could've done this himself.

Did he just forget his password? Was it 451?

He's an executive, he doesn't understand HOW to remove them, he knows what he wants to accomplish, just needs an expert to make it happen.

lexx didnt make much sense ether. is that the chick in ur pic from the movie. loved the show.
but yeah no. you can poke a hole in every plot ever written, then make something up to patch said hole.

I assumed the hacker running the btrng.ram program and editing the code or whatever after logging in gave access to those interfaces. I doubt Diego had access to them himself.

The original 4 TV movies made sense, mostly.

It was the series after that didn't.

Also, Eva is the GOAT. Death to fishlip, "Xev".

This
And even if Diego did have access to removing the etical restraints then the home office would have found out about it. They already suspect that he's up to some really shady stuff and sent a spy on his ass.

they needed a patsy.

As someone of 40+ years of age and very fond memories of the (arguably flawed) original, I can say that the new beginning and end to this remake are absolute garbage. The narrative changes they made cheapens the entire premise.

I love this remake and the crappy intro/ending doesn't take away from the experience, but I wonder what intern wrote this garbage because ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ did they make it dumber than it was.

I wish they had actually shown the Hacker bringing his gear and using it though.

You can literally see the name of the program Hacker uses to elevate the permissions level of Diego's account, the very same program he used at the start to gain access to TriOp's data.

That's insanely stupid, brute force code breakers are not some magic do it all button.

Also I'd like to point out that after bruteforcing access to the mainframe before he gets captured the nu-hacker embarassingly fumbles around in the system he supposedly broke into, failing the most basic commands.

Plausible deniability?

I'm assuming the hacker was going to be a scapegoat in case things went **slightly less**tits up...

I assume that SHODAN has physical hardware to ensure the ethical constraints aren't removed, so the hacker would need to work on multiple vectors to complete the work. I personally prefer the original intro, it seems much more stylish, to the point, and leaves the hacker's efforts to the imagination.

None of the explanations people are coming up with make any sense. It's just a mess up by Nightdive.

It doesn't even make sense as to why "Toggle Ethical Restraints On/Off" would even be an option lol.

Why would you assume that? She's a program, and it is part of the story she even has the potential to transfer herself (both within this game, and as part of the story of SS2).
