Sory for necro, but I was searching for the same answer, and then I found an use for that cryo chamber. You can use like a step to get on a counter so you can reach that junk item, otherwise out of reach. :)

You can climb in to it and go into cryogenic sleep as you wait for this whole 'AI murdered the crew and I'm partially responsible for that' situation to hopefully solve its-self.
