Flight Deck Question
Hi

I can’t seem to find anything doing a search on Google, but what the heck are those two cylinders with an access panel/key code opposite each other for on the Flight Deck? It’s located in Eastern according to the map and you access it via one of the Flight Decks located directly behind the elevator when you first enter the area. I figured those were the life-pods. But once you enter the Bridge, the rest of the station blows up because of the Reactor, so there’s no way of getting back. Or can you use them to flee and get a bad ending…?

Thanks

Try 001 after the fight with Diego for the (edited!) second time.

The first time…? You mean the encounter on the Executive level…? I’m way passed that now. Besides, you only learn of that code somewhere between Engineering and Security via an audio message.

They are the lifepods. They will be relevant to the story later. You can't even access Security before doing the part of the story involving the lifepods.

I’m confused. I was able to set the Reactor to self-destruct and then I did something else that I’ve now forgotten, which unlocked the door to Security. I was given the code for them, but I don’t appear to have a task/mission to do anything with them in order to move on. I’ve been able to defeat Diego and head for the bridge.

Then the thing you did that you've forgotten was entering a life-pod, trying to start the eject sequence, and SHODAN shutting it down, forcing you to stay on the station.

That is unless they're entirely optional and you could just head straight for security afterwards. I'd have thought it was a mandatory part of the story.

Hmm. Odd. Might be something optional then. Well, I can always go back to a previous save and attempt to use them.

Rebecca Lansing gives you the code for the lifepods and tells you to go there after setting the reactor to blow.

It's completely optional. But it's another detail you'll miss if you don't pay attention to the logs.

After setting the reactor to self-destruct, you can run straight to Security if you want and completely bypass it. Although doing so means you miss out on fighting Diego an additional time and the emails/logs you'll get from attempting to flee.

Ahhh, interesting. I think I must have forgotten those pods on the Flight Deck and figured I’d encounter the life-pods within Security or beyond.
I have a save before the final encounter with Diego, but I’m not sure if any of that dialogue will trigger if I go back to the life-pods now. I’ll have to test it later.

Thanks for clarifying. :)

Sorry, the second time!

You cannot go back to another levels after entering the Security level.

About the lifepods - there is not much dialog about this, you just get the information WHY do you have to visit the Security and Bridge levels. By the way, I did the same thing - went straight to the Security after fighting Diego. Then I was like "wow I forgot about lifepods!" and reloaded the save.

Oh trust me, I can. 😉 I have a mod that keeps doors open. It’s because of that door on Security, and not being able to get back, that I started asking around on here and someone pointed the mod out to me. 😁

Can confirm - with the help of the door mod I have, I was able to go to the Flight Deck and try to use the life-pods. Though I ended up encountering Diego again despite killing him permanently. XD
