I'm... certainly sorry to hear that. But I think if you look at the logs from the first couple of levels, there is guidance on the things that you need to get and where they need to be used. While you don't say specifically what you missed on Level 2, I'm going to guess that it's the safety override code from the Research Library. In which case, there was more than a hint to pick up, since the log from D'Arcy's medical office tells you to go there and the room is labelled. There is a data stick next to the firing button in Central Control as well, reminding you on where that code is located and letting you know to use it on the reactor level.
While the game doesn't guide you through every step, it does give directives for each thing you need to do with those logs from the crew: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2989188623
This isn't helpful.
If your run degrades too much, you can always start again. The earlier sections will be a breeze and you'll have the resources and knowledge to bridge the gap and find the solution with a clear head.
It's a good game, and worth sticking with, so don't feel too disheartened - it's sadistic and confusing, but all of the information to solve its riddles is there, you just need to take your time and gather the clues.
Alternatively, you could wait for them to fix waypoints on the lowest mission difficulty.
Make sure to use it so you much less likely miss stuff.
Game is great, but exhausting as hell
And in the end - it just flips you off, no satisfaction
At all
And for that it helps to have a notepad to make notes in this game. Most games these days aren't like that, so it's understandable to be frustrated.
Also this is a remake of an older game that had a pretty confusing level design and they did sorta try and translate some of that into the remake.
There is actually an audio log in the game where a character more or less says "Wtf did they decide this station in the most stressful way imaginable?"
What satisfaction did you expect? We disabled Shodans ethical subsystems and it´s our fault that everyone is dead. And if the fight versus Shodan did not satisfy you, we mostly disabled her with the isolinear chipset, the fight is more or less just a mandatory event. No heroes here.
I would loved the game 25 years ago, but now don't have that much time.
Spending free evening time to find nothing and end up frustrated and mentally drained doesn't feel good at all.
Agree with OP - game is great. but it can be hard to enjoy it. Decided to take a break from it some time ago and not sure I will return to it.
This game isn't even remotely rewarding or satisfying and the ending is an absolute joke.
