Make use of your powered boots to get around quickly.
I've got enough patches and a fair amount of batteries saved up. Kinda sucks not being able to savor the environment, but if there's nothing else to be found thats good to know.
In the original game there was a level 3 hardware upgrade, but it doesn't exist in the remake.
Such is old school gaming, it won't hold your hand and it is more than possible to fail completely by not being good enough.
I basically speedran to turn on the bridge and then get to the grove eject switch, hoping i'd find a recharge point along the way (there was one right before going to beta - so you should almost certainly be going with full battery). I had two batteries on me which I coulda used in an emergency but I managed, I also had a buncha fire shotgun shells and had capped my magnum ammo stack, so I kinda melted the enemies in there too lol.
Having now jettisoned beta grove & cleared them all, i'm kinda surprised how much people have been complaining about it & the (optional?) chess game. Maybe its just due to whatever difficulty people are on but I didn't find them bad at all - I actually really enjoyed the chess game, hit me right in the nostalgia of my Grandad teaching and playing me :')
I imagine if you go to beta first, with no grove experience, no rad suit / battery (somehow) then it must be rough, but I imagine such players have either been unlucky or bent over backwards to make it hard for themselves lol.
In a recent run I just hit the interlocks before getting the enviropack, then came back to take out all the cameras just before the final eject, which took 2:49. You can see that route here: https://youtu.be/g5l6aobqncM?t=1503
Edit: Oh, it doesn't link the time portion? Wonderful. Starts at 25:03.
