Anyone got any clues on to getting more Osmium/Magnum ammo?

I'm only Engineering and scoured the lower levels and have 77 ammo after using it a lot. I have 290 MkIII shots each and 120 shotgun shots each, so I find it odd I only have like 100 osmium. I bought some, found a lot, emptied guns, but there's no big box or enemy drops with more than 2 anywhere.

If I recall, the biggest Osmium round to find is in Maintenance, next to the demodulators, and even then it's only 3 boxes. Otherwise there was some here and there in Executive including Diego's storeroom.

But yeah, it won't ever be that much. For a tip on saving ammo for it, if you have the laser attachment mod, turn it on when you shoot; it does more damage once it locks-on, which only takes like .5-1 seconds.

Otherwise it can be a random enemy loot drop, so just gotta get lucky.

Use other weapons to deplete their ammo while accumulating more for whichever your preferred weapon is. Once you hit the storage level and then can start looting enemies on level 7, magnum ammo is not too hard to get.

This is what I've been doing, and I still have rare magnum ammo. I turned off robot production on level 3, was that a bad move? Now I can't farm maybe?

Even 77 is a good number of Magnum Ammo.

Sounds like you've probably just been using the Magnum way more than your other guns, or perhaps you've just gotten very unlucky on the later floors.

Really though, the answer is just "Balance your use of other guns." Ammo is very plentiful in this game, but not to the point where you can solely rely on one gun to do most of the work.
It sounds like you have WAY more shotgun ammo then you know what to do with, so I'd suggest using those up.
I generally kept 3 guns on me, and by the time I hit engineering, I would use whatever gun's ammo was the closest to hitting a second stack.

Yep got tons of shotgun, but want to use the magnum. Shotgun is actually a bad gun. Scorp I use up most my 9mm, and MkIII runs out fast but I like that too.

My loadout is: Sabre, Magnum, MKIII, Ion Pulse. All upgraded fully by this point.

Nah, the best thing you can get off of farming Research drops is probably batteries, or for some people logic probes. Magnum ammo drops from slightly harder enemies. I can't remember if there's any on Storage or Flight Deck (I think Cyborg Assassins can?), but Executive on will definitely start dropping them.

From the loot tables, here are the enemies that can drop osmium rounds and the % chance of doing so:

Cyborg Elite Drone: 33%
Security 2 Bot: 20%
Cyborg Elite Guard: 15%
Mutated Cyborg: 15%
Exec Bot: 10%
Security 1 Bot: 10%
