How scary is it?
Tease me all you want, I'm a freaking scaredycat and I'm not ashamed of it.

I was able to play through the bioshock series (the section where the light shuts off and splicers come running at you from out of the pitch black did ♥♥♥♥ me up tho, lol). I played through Prey pretty okay. Resident Evil Village was a no go.

I've heard great things about System Shock and I'm a huge fan of the cyberpunk genre, so I was hoping to grab this since people seem to be of the opinion that its as true to playing a classic with modernized graphics as one can get. I just wanted to check if the game is only eerie and not like intentionally trying to throw ♥♥♥♥ at you to scare you.

Not really. There are a couple of very minor jump-scares but somewhat predictable.

It's not that scary. But if you enjoy this game and want to play the sequel, that one is a lot scarier.

This remake version is _a lot_ less scary than original one. So you'll be fine. Like example engineering lever is walk in park

It's scary in that, some of the cyborgs still deliver voice lines that sound like they are aware, but are trapped and being controlled. And if you die you get to experience this too!

System Shock hasn't much in the way of heart attack inducing moments. Prey has more of that with the morphed critters masquerading as chairs.

Stalker however....the first invisible mutant gave me the willies, when I saw its eyes blink and heard it start to move :)

On a scale of Aliens being 1 and Alien being 10, this game is exactly like Aliens. It's a thrill ride with some shock and horror here and there.

At most an enemy might spawn behind you and spook you when you aren't expecting it.

It's dread horror, not ooga-booga horror.
I wish I could be scared like that in a game. Dead space came kinda close once or twice but no game has managed it thus far, personally speaking.

If you can play Bioshock and Prey, you are fine.

The lore is terrifying, and it can be scary wandering around at first. But it's not a horror game

If you got through Prey 2017 with no problems, I can’t see System Shock causing you problems.

It's not really scary. But it does have a dark spooky atmosphere and plenty of jump-scare surprises.

The only minor jump-scare I've encountered so far is on the medical level, where a cyborg soldier removes a red force field bridge from under your feet. Currently on engineering (L7), not encountered any others.

More psychological than immediate, and the player's better agility in the remake lessens the tension of survival considerably. I remember when playing the original, that I wanted to avoid combat as much as possible. That aspect while not entirely missing here because combat is still dangerous, is less so because it's also fun.

A deep sense of foreboding and dread...rather than scary.
(Although, there are times especially towards the end, where Shodan likes to pop enemies up right behind me!)
