Just to officially confirm - yes, the Ubisoft Connect PC client is required to be able to launch the game.
It isn't possible to bypass this stage.
Sorry for any disappointment caused and to hear this has lead to you opting to refund the game.
If there is ever anything further we can help with at all, please don't hesitate to let us know.
Thank you!

Hey CLYDE FROG,
Thank you for reaching out to us with this!
May we please know more about your login issues?
Do you receive any particular errors or warning messages?
As for seeing the game twice, did you purchase the game on Ubisoft Connect and Steam separately at different points?
As this may lead to two instances being displayed.
Thank you!

Steam already has built-in digital rights management, preventing piracy.
How dare you require your customers to make an account with a third party to use their property?
Hello Jonesmz,
We're sorry to hear you find the additional launcher requirements to be such an inconvenience.
There are no known plans to remove this requirement as players are required to activate their content with their associated Ubisoft account.
This allows you to launch your games via Steam or Ubisoft Connect, when the respective Ubisoft Account is being used.
Your feedback is appreciated though and will be noted to the relevant teams.
If there is anything more we can answer / help with at all, please let us know.
Thank you!

It's still a morally bankrupt business decision.
i do have a question regarding how do set the luancher to set steam as the luancher proity after registering with the ubisoft account system?
im not asking to remove the ubisoft luancher but rather telling the ubisoft luancher to recognize it's purchased on steam and the steam api since i purchased it on steam and wish to set steam and the preference otherwise i dont see why you folks placed it on steam in the first place?
Thank you for reaching out Ovan Twilight!
By this, are you asking for the launch process to completely ignore Ubisoft Connect?
If so - no I'm afraid this isn't possible.
When you boot the game, it will always boot Ubisoft Connect to check the game against your currently signed in Ubisoft account and then launch the game.
There is no way to bypass this step.
If there's anything more we can answer at all, please don't hesitate to let us know!
Thank you!

I have been trying to login into my Connect account for two days now. It always crashes at some point.
I did literally dozens of things, from updating graphic drivers to checking my HD integrity (it is a brand new laptop), but I still cannot play any of my Ubisoft Games. I was happily playing Far Cry 3 for 30+ hours, but suddenly the crashes started and there is nothing I can do about it.
Any idea on how to solve this? I was thinking about buying the whole Far Cry collection, but at this point I am happy I didn't.
Oh, can I ask for a refund in case this problem doesn't get solved?
Thanks in advance.
Sorry to hear you're experiencing lots of crashes in Ubisoft Connect here.
This isn't only related to Anno, so I'd advise you contact us on {LINK REMOVED} our forums or directly open a {LINK REMOVED} support ticket, so we can have a look.
If you open a ticket, can you make sure you follow {LINK REMOVED} these steps first and add the {LINK REMOVED} system files as well as screenshots of any error codes you might have, please ?
-Ubisoft Support
I will do that.
Thanks!
