Network problems "error the connection to the server has been lost"
Hello to all,

With Anno you might get this error when trying to start the game, if you have this problem don't try to open ports.

To play this game ( or any game ) Port forwarding is ONLY needed if you like to host games ... OR if you have a firewall that blocks outgoing ports.

If you google it you will see this :
Uplay OR Ubisoft Connect : TCP - 80, 443, 14000, 14008,
14020, 14021, 14022, 14023 and 14024 ( this is totally BS ) ...

The only port use are 80 or 443 (nothing more), you don't need to open this ports (most firewalls have this by default and is a BAD idea to open incoming, meaning open your PC to accept connections on that ports.

For the game ( Anno 2070 ) if you google it you will see this :
UDP - 80 and 3074

The game use 80 TCP and 3070 UDP but there is no need to open, meaning you DO NOT need to open this port unless you like to host games.

BUT ... ... ...

this game have a problem with connecting to servers and it use port UDP 3070 in a unique way,

if your firewall blocks outgoing on that port ( 3070 ) the game will fail to connect to server and authenticate the user, meaning it will start offline or not at all

but ...

Also ( and this is the strange part ), the game use the port 21075 or 21076 and 21081 or 21082 on the server side ...

So if you have a router, firewall or an enterprise firewall that blocks incoming and outgoing ports OR if you don't have UPnP active they will block that connection and the game will fail to start (or go offline).

I don't like to use UPnP because is a security risk and I'm using a enterprise firewall, so in my case to start this game I had to allow outgoing trafic on port 3070 with 21075 and 21081

If you have this problem and are using a firewall and the game is giving this error after you already add it to the firewall ( the exe ) you might need to check if your router allow outgoing ports (only outgoing) or if you like turn on UPnP,

if that fails then you have to set to allow outgoing the ports 3070, 21075 and 21081 ( the 80 and 443 is already on it for sure )

Then check the firewall logs if the ports are been block.

If that don't work you might need to call your ISP because some like to block non normal ports (for security reasons).

I got this game on ubi directly and found the support to be ... well no comments.

Also in all the help text and forum/s no one ever talks about the ports 21075 or 21081, I had to piggy back on my network and check the packs to see the ports
