Where are you attempting to enter this key?
Are you being prompted to enter the key by Ubisoft Connect after launching the game via Steam?
- Ubisoft Connect
Though now, it doesn't prompt me anymore, going straight to the screen that says that the key is already in use after logging in.
Hey there,
Thanks for letting me know! Please give the below a try.
Please, navigate to the Ubisoft Game Launcher cache folder, by default located here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\cache
Open the cache folder and move the "ownership" folder to a safe location.
Once you have backed up that folder, delete the "cache" folder.
After deleting the cache folder, please verify the game files within Steam:
- Open Steam
- Right-click the affected game in your Steam library and select Properties from the drop-down
- Select the Local files tab and click the Verify integrity of game cache... button
- Steam will verify the game's files. This process may take several minutes
- Once the process is completed, the Check Window will automatically exit
If an issue is found, you will be given the option to Repair, click Repair. After repairing the issue, please verify the game again until no issues are found.
When this has been completed, try launching the game again.
Let us know if there are any changes, thank you!
- Ubisoft Support
Thank you for the response and the instructions, though I am sad to say it hasn't changed anything after following the steps step by step.
When verifying the files, it does so without ever giving a prompt to 'Repair'. And after doing the verification, and starting the game, I am still encountered with the same exact problem as mentioned above, sadly.
I hope there's more that can be done to fix this issue.
Thank you and am glad to hear soon!

In this particular instance, I would like to ask you to do the following:
1. Visit our support website[support.ubisoft.com]
2. Login to your account, select 'Contact Customer Support' and you will be redirected to another page
3. Select the required fields and describe the issue you're having.
4. Additionally, can I ask you to also attach full and uncropped image showing proof of purchase for your copy of the game. To do this, please refer to steps outlined in the following article[support.ubi.com].
5. Also, attach full and uncropped screenshot showing your Activation Key
Once that's all done, let us know your case number and we will have a look for you!
- Ubisoft Support
Is there any status on this issue in general? It seems to be a widespread problem?
There isn't a known major key issue - and individual cases can be resolved by getting in touch
I can see this is the case for you as you've had responses.
If there's anything else we can help with please let us know!

First (after installing the game) I had trouble to make it run due to endless repeat of the "Addon Activation" Message that want you to restart the game and you are literally stuck, because this Message show up again and again.
I fixed this with a guide here in the discussions, by downloading an older version of the AutoPatcher.exe file. Afterwards the game started and I was able to play for a few hours.
Now I wanted to return to the game and have this issue here now, Ubisoft is asking me for a Product key and if I use my Key from Steam it's invalid. :/
Sorry to hear you've tried following a workaround and you're now unable to enter a valid product key. We're continuing to handle this issue on a case by case basis though our support channels. You can reach out to us via any of the following:

Thank you Ubi_Nacho,
I allready did, sadly all they can offer is that I should reinstall the game, what seems a bit pointless because that will kick me back to the issue with the never ending restart error Message from before the workaround.
Sometimes I really feel dumb when the solution is so obvious. Thank you, that worked. I'm now able to play the game again!
Glad this worked for you and thanks for the suggested workaround Helgart!

When I search online it seems as though this is a problem encountered by lots of people.
https://steamcommunity.com/app/48240/discussions/1/3201495011978709961/
but use the Link from the User Sulfur (Post #18) for the AutoPatcher.
Then in combination with launching the game directly in Admin mode worked for me.
I'm curious if Ubisoft support will do anything to fix this issue or at least offer a workaround on their Support Forum. The Workaround here on Steam shows clearly that the AutoPatcher from the Game is broken and causes a lot of trouble for everyone who wants to play this game again.
Thank you for sharing this!
