Sorry for the delay in getting back to you on this issue. It appears you've done quite a bit of troubleshooting yourself for this issue so I'm sorry to hear that nothing you've tried has as yet worked out for you. If you've attempted each step contained here[support.ubi.com], I would also recommend also running both Uplay and Steam launchers as administrator, not sure if that's what you were referring to by the .exe files but just in case. If none of these things help if possible I'd then ask you to send your system files[support.ubi.com] over to us on a support case here[support.ubi.com], we may be able to identify a potential cause after looking through those files.

Dear Orion,
Don't worry about the delay, the matter is that you replied. I did every step contained in the first link you provide, with negative outcome. Also I ran both Uplay and Steam .exes as admin (I was referring to the game launchers and Uplay and Steam launchers).
So, right now i'll be away from my PC a couple of weeks (could extend to months, timetable not accurate
Anyway, thank you very much for taking your time trying to help me, Orion. I'm sure we will figure out soon or sooner
Basically, when I lauch the game, the autopatcher kicks in and start trying to update something. It cant connect with the update server and I just can "play" or exit.
I've tried the solutions which appear on the internet but now the link for the offline auto-updater (http://static2.cdn.ubi.com/patches/anno2070/Anno2070_Offlinepatcher_2_00.zip) is apparently broken.
So... any solution? Where can I find a proper auto-patch to finally f* play this game i bought long time ago and have played many hours before?
Thanks in advance.
Also note that the offline updater does not work for me and apparently several others.
To fix this I Installed the Uplay game launcher and launched the game from the Uplay launcher with Steam already running.
I had to reboot once or twice and then the update completed. After this process you should be able to start the game with either the Steam launcher or the Uplay launcher.
It appears that Steam is initially unable to run the auto-updater properly.
Just checked it and it didn't work :( I'll reinstall it thru uplay and see what happens...
Hi there!
If you haven't already done so please follow each of these steps here[support.ubisoft.com] please. Hopefully it will fix your issue. Thanks!

Hi Orion, first of all thank you for posting. I have tried that and the very first step, which is downloading the offline patcher, doesn't work because the link (http://static2.cdn.ubi.com/patches/anno2070/Anno2070_Offlinepatcher_2_00.zip) is broken or something else.
Anyway, when I first tried to play this several months ago and open this discussion, I tried to do those steps you provide and it didnt work either.
I know it's not your fault and i dont wanna put you in flames, but it's a shame that a game i have bought and have played 80+ hours now I'm unable to play, when NOTHING in my PC has changed. I didnt try but I'm kinda sure that if i download Anno 2070 from illegal sources I would be able to play it... these things encourage the player base to just bypass buying the game, because the technical issues are not getting solved. Just my thoughts.
Was bedeutet diese Meldung genau?
Hi Ubi-Orion. I've managed to get the offline-autopatcher and the issue is still there unfortunately.. I'm kind of sad that i can't play Anno 2070 again, one of my favourites games from Anno saga. Is there anything i can do to make it work?..
The issue described in this thread does not have a "one size fits all" solution unfortunately - each person experiencing this behaviour may have an individual cause on their system. This is why we troubleshoot, to try and work out the cause and rectify the issue. :)
If your key is shown as in use, jerrylau405, this may mean that you are trying to play ANNO 2070 on the wrong Ubisoft Account. You need to be signed into the same account where the game was first activated, and you cannot re-use the activation key on another account.
If you haven't already, please reach out to us directly via a support case[support.ubisoft.com] or Live Chat[support.ubisoft.com] for a private investigation into this issue to take place.
I'm afraid I can only provide support in English - please translate your reply for me, and I'll gladly assist you further if you are describing similar issues!
Hello Heath! I sincerely apologise that the steps thus far provided have not been successful in addressing this issue, and that the offline patcher did not work either.
From your initial description, I understand that the task starts in the background, but then it sounds like it quits almost immediately. Does the process appear in Task Manager when hitting launch, even for a second? Or not at all?
Can you provide me with your case reference number please, and ensure that fresh MSINFO and DXDIAG files are attached so I can get right to investigating those? :)

Hi Ubi-Woofer.
SURPRISINGLY, the thing worked out finally. I've just installed the game in English (instead of Spanish) and deleted the exceptions that I wrote in the 'hosts' file. So finally it worked out. I'm thinking that it worked because i "cleaned" the hosts file, something like the exceptions (who i was asumming that it could help and it did the opposite) not only didn't help but ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up entirely.
I think the installation language have no issue on that, because I have changed the language to Spanish and it works too.
I'll do a little recap: I DONT KNOW why now it works. I went back to the default settings (no hosts file editing, no offline autopatcher..) and it suddenly worked. What it didn't work at first (and that's why I did all sort of things possible) just surprisingly worked.
So, please, Ubisoft, try to solve this issue because I was so close of giving up in this game. This game doesn't deserve this.
In adition, thanks to you Ubi-supporters for always being reachable and kind.
-Kind regards.
