Anno 2070

Unable to start game **FIX**
Just open your steam folder , usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Anno 2070

You will see 3 .exe files. Right click on each one, go to properties, click the compatability tab and set the compatability mode to Windows XP (Service Pack 3).

You may also need to do this:

1) First, you will need to uninstall the "Ubisoft Game Launcher" software from the 'Add/Remove Programs' (Windows XP) / 'Installed Programs' (Windows Vista and 7) icon in your computer's control panel.

It's possible that the "Ubisoft Game Launcher" software will not be listed if you have already uninstalled it, or the game. If so, you can skip this step.

Then, you will need to uninstall the "Uplay" software from the 'Add/Remove Programs' (Windows XP) / 'Installed Programs' (Windows Vista and 7) icon in your computer's control panel.

It's possible that the "Uplay" software will not be listed if you have already uninstalled it, or the game. If so, you can skip this step.

2) After uninstalling the software, you will need to manually delete any leftover files in the C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher (32-bit versions of Windows) or C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher (64-bit versions of Windows).

Please do not skip this step, it is very important.

3) Once you have manually deleted the files left in that folder, you can reinstall the GameLauncher software from: http://static3.cdn.ubi.com/orbit/launcher_installer/UplayInstaller.exe

Hmm. I've tried the steps listed here, Merkon, but it doesn't change anything. The game boots up to loading shaders, then stops responding. Any other ideas?

those are petition signed by people with complains over ubisoft sinds the game wont work.
Games that they buy that are from Ubisoft itself.

@Poyoloco to change your host file do http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/27350/beginner-geek-how-to-edit-your-hosts-file/

Downloading the updated client and keeping the host file changes fixes the connection and login problems!

If you are having problems connecting to the ubisoft servers this might help.

I've been having problems with Anno 2070 tonight and finally figured out that it was issues with the ubisoft nameservers. To resolve the issue I added the following lines to c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts (if the file does not exist create it in notepad but remove the .txt extension)

87.248.214.183 static3.cdn.Ubi.com
95.140.224.199 static2.cdn.Ubi.com
87.248.214.183 static1.cdn.Ubi.com
95.140.224.199 static11.cdn.Ubi.com

Lol Victor, I've got my 2 year medal, I've been on Steam since 2011 - this isn't a new account and I don't work for Ubisoft.

The game DOES work, the problem is Steam downloads the 1.0 version of the software wheras the bnew one is around 3.0.

It took me a few hours of fiddling various settings and trying other guides to get it to work, I just posted this to help others. Next time say thank you liek an normal person.

Muser, I'm not sure what your problem is, I haven't had that. Try updating your video drivers?
