What Faction do you play as, and why?
Just a short post of what faction you like to play as and why you like to play as them. No reason for flaming or anything like that. Both Eco and Tycoon both have their strengths and weaknesses. And in the end game, both work great together with their technologies.

Anyway I am a Eco player.

I play eco due to the fact I like their building designs over Tycoon, however also for the fact that even though it's harder to get power at times, the eco balance can provide you with bonuses with your population better then Tycoons. Sure farms and food will take a harder hit with negitive ecobalance but in the end game you will not run out o resoruces and have more of them later on. As well as easlly providing your islands over 500 eco. I am sure there is better reasons but eh, I wanna preserve the world, how about you?

I'm guessing you mean in the sense of which one you play as primarily. Ecos are just too much of a freakin' hassle: their farms're much larger and less land-efficient, their needs are much more fickle and demanding of special circumstances (making pasta dishes SUCKS thanks to the reliance on river slots and their double-dipping into Vegitables which're required for Health Food).

They've got two things going for them, Offshore Wind Parks and Ozone Makers, but depending on whether or not you've done certain world events and have Deep Ocean or nott those get completily nullified: Guardian 1.0s give ridiculous amounts of ecobalance, can be researched by techs without special items for the guardian itself and can be ark slotted to cut down on energy consumption and influence radius, and with the Energy Transfer system it's possible to get 3 Safety Protocol IIIs (nuclear accidents -40%) and 3 of the +15 energy generation for nuclear plants, build a whole bunch nuclear plants on some island in the corner with lots of mine slots, then slot in those items and beam the energy elsewhere. Incredibly cost-efficient and you don't have to use a column of Ark slots to make them practical end-game like OWPs.

Tycoons are messy, but they do not screw around. Pollution can be fixed, but excessive land use can't and in this game efficient land is king.

EDIT: Ecos do have some nice music and all, though. Although if you want to talk favorite faction overall, the Deep Ocean techs are simply awesome. Nice building aesthetics, nice music, their Activity and Participation buildings actually serve a practical purpose instead of being eye candy, and that monument is simply magnificent. Tough to get to the final level, but once you get them there oh boy does the cash pour in.

Im tired to see so much eco-noobs... Eco dont take more space than tycoon, they just don't, and it's noobish to say that. They even take less place than Tycoon! Pasta are never a problem. Noobs can't see how, but i don't want to repeat the same things all the time, so not here bros. Tycoon are good for war, but in economic challenge-game, they are so lame and retarded.

Eco they mix pretty well with the tech (visually)

Well yes, TECHNICALLY you can min-max the heck out of them by boosting Ecobalance enough to get 150% production or so and make sure your affected fields are all paired off for maximum efficiency and a whole host of other things - doesn't make them any less of a pain to get up to Executive for Ozone Makers and get the necessary Ark upgrades to make that min-maxing feasable. Tycoons at least wait until Executive level to start piling on the annoying requirements, and're a big damn sack of hammers where the Worker to Executive phase is one giant nail you pound in with impunity.

I prefer Ecos :) Researched a lot of Arc uprgrades to make the use of the first ecobalance building (actually don't know its english name, but it is the first one accessable to build) the most efficient, so they just cost 2 energy und 2 credits and may be build almost next to each other. And I upgraded the offshore windparks as well, so I may use them the most efficient way. I don't use the Ozone Makers at all, I don't like their look and I consider them way too expensive, also it takes way too long until I may build them. All my farms have an efficiency of 175% due to my highly upgraded low cost ecobalance buildings.

But yes, Sorenson, you are right about the pasta production, if I want to build a huge city I need at least 2 islands due to the limited riverslots, what kinda sucks :D

But never the less, I prefer my ecos and enjoy playing them :)

I can't identify to people who eats vegan sushis with a cup of tea so it will be Tycoon for me, thanks.

Still, while this thread seems to be quite balanced I don't get how comes that the Ecos are so over represented when it comes to senate voting. Do you have any explaination about that?
Canyew Jun 27, 2013 @ 3:51pm
It's pretty much boils down to who has the better power during the game then the others is all

FYI, a Vegan would NEVER eat a fish. So there is some flawed logic there. I see the Ecos as the ones trying to do something for the planet and the tycoons pretty much don't give a ♥♥♥♥. Also look at how a eco person lives compared to a tycoon. The Eco's are pretty much a free soicity of people collaberating together for a better goal, whereas the tycoons are an extermlly opressive police state that nothing matters for then money.

As for ark upgrades, get the 2 Star and 3 Star standard windmill upgrades and you will never need to use anything else, ever unless something uses SO MUCH POWER that you need to use the solar panels or offshore wind parks.

I don't eat sushi. I drink tea but no alcohol or coffee. So I don't fit in any faction...
Guess I'll have to join Trenchcoat on his carrier.

tend to mix it up, sometimes i play eco's sometimes tycoons, they both have their pros and cons.
TrueChaoS Jun 29, 2013 @ 3:00am
Personally prefer to play as the Tycoons because their early-game needs are a lot simpler to handle for me (though they are logisically not TOO different). Though, I can play as Ecos when needed, I just don't like their playstyle very much.

I like to use all of them, but probably mainly Ecos, just prefer the building style & the music.
